Thinking of buying a new 2014 prius third gen. package 2. Just wondering what the lowest prices people are paying. Toyota is currently dong $750 cash back incentive on new models. I am trying to get the Prius for $21,250 before tax (includes the $750 rebate). What have people paid for their 2014 models ?

FWIW - I plan on keeping my 2004 Ford F150 (200,000 miles and 12mpg.) and the Triumph Tiger 800 is fast but only gives me 33 mpg and i racked up 10,000 miles in five months.... So my plan was to get a Prius - hold for 2-3 years and then upgrade to the newer 2015 gen 4 body style in 2016-2017.

I got a pricing report from fightingchance.com, I think it was worth it. Based on the information I offered my local dealer $23k OTD. They didn't take it and I shopped around and got exactly that without revealing the price I was looking for: How to buy a car | PriusChat

The information that I had at the time from fightingchance.com showed the incentive for the 2013 was $2k with a cash purchase or $1k when financing with Toyota. The 2014 was either $500 incentive or Toyota financing.

Just noticed you are in CA, just contact Diane: Dianne's SoCal Deal Blast January 2014 | PriusChat

She had a really good price but shipping from CA to FL made her price more than what I got locally.

Be careful when comparing to others OTD price I did that and after further research realized the tax in that persons state was half of mine (3% versus 6%).

thanks. i just texted her. Not sure what i want to pay, but i think the dealers are pushing out the deals for 2014 models, with the new 2015 arriving within the year?

It would be nice to find out what others have payed on their Prius before tax.

The prices seem to be trending downward in the past couple weeks, so looks like even through TrueCar you should be able to get the deal you want, or maybe you can score even better. I'm still on the fence between Prius and a different car, so hoping the price will finally come down enough that I can't afford not to. :)

in Los Angeles and I believe elsewhere TMS has several promotions, of which $750 rebate on a cash purchase for 2014. This is the last year of this approximate 15 year body style, so Toyota wants to sell the cars now. A little cash or 0% apr finance always sweetens the deal.

BTW - what is the other car you are looking at?

Yeah, the rebate + current discounting is what's making Prius look more appealing to me now. Also considering Scion xB. Obviously much worse MPG, but what I mainly need is a roomier-than-compact inexpensive-to-own hatch. With my moderate driving habits Prius MPG at first seemed overkill, but xB's 24 MPG is a bit less than I'd like.

so i get the low down from a few dealers... apparently the dealers are getting $500 cash back from the factory (TMS) which helps sweeten the pie. Plus the holdback from the factory. Also TMS is giving $750 customer rebate for 2014 and $1,000 rebate on 2013 and $2,000 rebate on plug ins. the rebates are until March 3rd. The $500 dealer cash is until February 13th. However Presidents Day is on a 14th and historically the auto companies run pretty big incentves so not sure if they will extend the deal or have a better one. Usually the dealers know the morning prior to the specials.

I sold cars for two Toyota dealers in the past, many years ago, so i am pretty familiar with how things work.

if anyone can PM (private message) me and let me know what they paid for their 2013 or 2014 Prius lift back that would be greatly appreciated. I am in the market for buying a new vehicle - base model Prius Classic. So far i have negotiated a good deal, but i am a shopper. Also, if you PM me i can tell you what i have negotiated. Don't want to post it here for obvious reasons and ruffle some feathers. PM and i will be glad to share what i have found.

I found TrueCar was a good starting point for negotiations, and sometimes it also helps to look at the TrueCar prices for nearby markets that might be cheaper. (Some people have had good luck with emailing a bunch of dealers for competitive quotes, but when I did that they always seemed to come up higher than the lowest TrueCar quote.) You can also find the current local incentives listed under "View Incentives" - very handy, because dealers don't always know the currently running incentives. The chart at the bottom also gives you an idea about the overall price trends. You might be able to negotiate better deals in the end, but I found it at least gave a good starting point and rough idea of local market trends.

It looks like this month prices nationally might be trending even lower than last month, but on the other hand, I'm not sure your area has all the incentives that have been running in SoCal.

I am out here in NoVa.

The best price I have found so far for on a 2014 prius 2 with floormats is $23,122 plus tax, tags and processing fee of $500.

Looks like TrueCar's showing it for around $1000 less if I punch in an Alexandria zip code (may not include floor mats.) You could try showing that to your best price dealer and ask them to beat it. Otherwise, you could generate the certificate for whatever dealer is offering that TC price and start working with them.

Note that the TrueCar quotes don't guarantee that the dealer will have the exact car you spec'ed - but if they don't then they presumably have to offer comparable savings off another car, which you may or may not want. When I was at first shopping for 2013 closeouts I found that process didn't work very well, because there wasn't much inventory around. But once I started looking at 2014's, everybody had plenty of inventory, so the TrueCar quotes tended to be pretty "real."

I don't believe true cars price has freight included and it includes the $750 incentive. If one wants the 0% financing than that's not a go.

I think the TC quote did include whatever destination charge when I did it, but definitely not tax/title/license. I ended up getting the mats included, though I forget exactly how that happened because I recall nobody wanted to do that when I was trying to negotiate 2013 closeouts. Think the dealers were just more motivated on the 2014's. I didn't use the Toyota financing though, so yes, if you want the 0% vs. cash incentive that'll definitely change things.

Thanks. We were firm with our desired pricing, but TBH, the dealer didn't fight us too hard and they were very easy to work with.

We probably left a few dollars on the table, but at a certain point our time is worth more than another round of haggling.

I just bought a 2014 prius package 2. OTD price of $21,983 including fees (DMV, dealer) and carpeted mats. This is in Oregon so no sales tax.

I purchased a 2014 Prius Four (included the upgraded Nav/Audio, the solar panel and the "leather" seats) for $27K. The deal felt good to me!
