    Hey guys,

I just installed my Prius Fog light kit which I ordered from the prius chat store.

They look great and the install was pretty easy.

One big issue though. My alarm is now wonky. I cant lock my car or else (after a 3 second delay) my alarm goes off. My car is now sitting unlocked!

    Anyone have any ideas?!

(the only wire I tapped into was the light brown/tan wire in the cabin.)

A few notes to give background to what I did:
-Installed lights and connected the red wire into the recommended 12v fuse, grounded the black and relay.
-Punched through the firewall, secured the white wire, grounded the black.
-Red wire (in cabin of car): tapped into the light brown (versus regular brown) wire. The wire was located in the lower connection of the ECU (as the instructions called it - basically the bundle of cables to the right of the fog light switch).
--The light brown/tan wire: provides power when in 'AC' mode, I can turn on the fogs without the low beams on.

I called Karr customer support and they tried to send a tech out to me which obviously would have cost $$$$...

Anyone have any ideas? I'd be up for either fixing the issue or tearing out the Karr system completely (would this cause any other issues? Car won't start, FOB not working, etc?)

Any audio/alarm shop should be able to install it.

Yes, on my Drivers side, the nut was on so tight that when I applied force, it broke the 10 mm stud loose from the turn signal housing. Fortunately I found a Toyota dealership selling OEM replacement for about $20. The tabs are enough to hold the turn signal light and fog light in, thank goodness, but I stopped my install until the replacement turn signal housing shows up.
Passenger side had no issues, came off without any issues.

I took them out. See the link in my sig below, mounted projector foglights.

The oem foglights send a lot of stray light (glare) up all over the place. Especially if improperly adjusted (not all the way down), they will appear brighter than your lowbeam headlights because, being reflector based, they lack a proper cutoff like the projector headlights.

I just finished install this weekend.

My kit was ordered from a Toyota Dealership & came with a slightly different harness.
    1. White wire was actually grey.
    2. Additional red wire that fed through firewall & was supplied by power after the inline fuse.
    3. Inside harness had another relay. Red wire from outside was intended to be feed to Relay power, as well as supply the actual switch.

I cut out the extra relay, and set up wiring per the instructions on this thread. Grey feeds to outside relay, Red is spliced on light brown wire of lower connector of ECU per picture, and Black is grounded. The switch in the kit is as seen in others on this thread.

    Issues with install:
    1. I had an issue with drivers side 10 mm nut removal - the stud in the turn signal lens broke loose, making nut removal impossible. Had to cut the Fog Light blank/placeholder out. Passenger side had no issues.
    2. Replacement Turn signal lens changed design - instead of using stud and nut system, a self tapping screw is used. Had to order the self tapping screw, but it worked fine.
    3. The illumination on the fog light switch never comes on. But the fog lights themselves do turn on and off with the switch.

Its great t0 have the fog lights usable, but trying to find the switch in cabin dark by feel is not pleasant. I'm a bit stumped as to why the fog lights would turn on and off correctly, but the switch never illuminates. Given this switch is not apparently sold separately, trying to troubleshoot this seems challenging Any ideas/thoughts would be appreciated.

How many wires do you have going to the dash switch? The switch needs to be have a separate power wire that is hot when the car is in Ready Mode for proper switch illumination. It sounds like you either don't have this wire connected or the wire isn't being fed by a source that is on when in Ready Mode.

I tapped one of the fuses in the driver's footwell fuse box for my switch illumination, off when ignition off, on when in Ready Mode. I believe it was a fuse for one of the seat heaters, a feature I don't have anyway.

    Hello, Jeff from Texas here.
I just bought my 3rd Prius, 2014 Prius Four and am installing the foglamps. I remember a thread about a relay that turns the fogs off when your high beams are turned on . Can someone direct me please.

Just bought the kit for the 2010 with a new switch arm for the factory fog light switch and the "Auto headlight" mod.
Parts on hand. TIS subscription paid.
Dealer issues and sold the Prius.

Cannot seem to post in the Private Sale section because in 600+ days no one had ever "liked" a post.

Paid $114.99 for the fog light kit. Will take $90 plus shipping from me in TX to you.

Paid $104 for the switch arm and bought 10 wire repair pieces in two sizes (4 of one and 6 of the other).
They are pricey. Paid $224 total and will sell that part for $170.

$250 buys it all plus shipping.

Cannot seem to link to photos without passing the imposed hurdles.

Does anyone know if the wiring on the 3rd gen is the same on the 2nd gen?
I'm going to be installing a set on an '07, and I'm trying to determine if it's the same wires that need to be tapped.

My TIS subscription is still active a few more days so I just looked at the wiring for an '07 Prius.
Doesn't look anything like the wiring plan for the 2010 Gen III that I was planning to upgrade. :-(

I simply went to the TIS site and looked at the foglight wiring for the 2007. I didn't see anything similar to the 2010 wiring that I printed out for my intended install.

I opted for a 30 day subscription to the TIS site at $75. The license agreement requires that you only use the information for your personal needs and not to "print/share" the information available.

Sadly, I am pretty honorable. It would probably take several days of steady comparison to "convert" the instructions to the Gen II Prius. I am certain that it could be done as the TIS is extensive in available information.

Upon looking at the 2010 wiring, all I need is a hot that's live when the parking lights are on.
I tapped to the ECU connector at the dash for mine. If you could even just get me the pinouts for that connector on a 2007, that would be a huge help.

If this was directed to me, I've got the kit from my 2011 and bought the grill for my new 2014. I think I would just née the relay harness for the high beam disconnect.
