I was reading in my university's newsletter, NC State, that the EE R&D department is working on embedding wireless transmitting coils in highway medians and wireless receiving coils in EV's so that the batteries are being charged as you drive.

    Pretty interesting stuff.

2010 may have been when parking assist became available in the US, but it existed before that. This video is clearly of a second generation Prius.

My 2004 Prius has a knock out plug in the back for a backup camera that was available in Japan. As I recall, parking assist was available way back then.

Again, pretty sure that there is no parking assist available on any version of a Prius.

It was available in 2010 and was removed for the MY2011.

Looks like this is a special park assist to go with this charging system. It's for backing in not for parallel parking. The IPA was available on the 2010 and 11 atp models of the Prius HB. Still available on the Prius V(an) Pkg 5. This According to the website Priuschat.com

Wireless charging HOV lanes? OMG that would be awesome! No wait construction traffic delay nightmares, never mind.

There was a parking assist available when the GEN 3 first came out. I believe it was limited to the highest trim level which at that time was called the Prius V.

I hate parallel parking so remember watching the videos with great interest.

I don't want to speak for anyone, but the immediate feedback seemed to be that the parking assist was a bit slow. It would work...but setting up and engaging it took so much time that a lot of people didn't seem to want to bother with it for fear of upsetting drivers around them.

I wonder if its still slow on the Prius V. I think there might have of been some advances

Sorry....don't want to cause confusion... but blame Toyota...

Original Gen 3 Prius...at that time had no "Brothers in the Family" yet...

The Prius V was simply the top of the "standard" Prius trim level.

In ensuing years...The family grew...and Toyota in their infinite wisdom decided to name their entire "Prius" family....all Prius....thus we now have Prius....Prius v and Prius c....and I get confused as to whether it is suppose to be capitalized or lower case ...or whatever...

In anycase...I don't think todays larger Prius v...has any parking assist.

Yes, I was talking about the v ( the bigger one)
I really wanted one with the IPA but it wasn't available even on The advance model. It was the deal breaker for the advance model. I can't wait for wireless charging it'll be the end of range anxiety. Battery swap option like tesla would be awesome for Toyota. I'm going to be crossing my fingers until I head back to Toyota/ Lexus for the next car.
