Took an hour and 15 minutes today to have the recall service performed, including my 50,000 mile oil change ($23.88 with coupon) and complimentary car wash. Loving my clean Prius again! Plus the weather warmed up and my MPG has increased. All is well again in Prius-land. :)

I go in friday the 21st for my first service and hopefully they will do the update then.
There seems to be a lot of difference in the time it takes for the recall according to this thread. If I remember correctly from reading the recall notice online, some models have to have a circuit board replaced ( because of faulty capacitors ) and a software update. Maybe that's the time difference everyone is seeing.

Has anyone noticed whether their dealer opened up the inverter (or whatever) and inspected the power transistors? Or, does checking for damage mean that if the car is still running, there isn't any apparent damage?

As talked about in another thread, the transistors are in naked die format and are very, very sealed, deep within the bowels of the inverter. Beyond the likelihood that these things are assembled in a clean room anyway, they're under a semi-clear pile of clear gunk to further protect them. Getting a visual means destroying the assembly.

On the other hand, data from the DoE study on the Prius reports that the transistors have temperature and current sensors that can be accessed by the controller in the inverter; cracks in the solder that attaches the naked die to the circuit board/thermal board in the inverter would very likely show up with temperature and current changes when the inverter is operating. Hence, the inspection likely involves a techie with a scan gauge and (possibly) some specialized software to "take a look". I'm guessing that if things look out of whack, a new inverter would promptly be in your future.

Just got back from having my recall done. Nothing really different except they skewed my rearview mirror for some reason and moved the power seat back (always takes me a few days to get it comfortable again). I had a small scare when I saw that I was doing 75 on the feeder road but then quickly realized they had switched the speedometer to km/hr haha.

I tried to get them to take off the backup beeps but they told me that it was a customizing thing and that it would cost me money for them to do. They are a smaller dealership than one further south so I'll call the other dealership when my 5k maintenance comes up and ask if they can get it done for free down there.

At that point I wouldn't bring my car there even with a "letter" (which btw just typing in your vin on the toyota website proves that they say YOUR car needs the service) I wouldn't trust those jerkoffs would actually do anything other than let it sit in a bay for two hours then tell you it's all done.

I'd agree. They should be able to plug your VIN into their system and it should pull up any active recalls on the vehicle. I wouldn't trust that dealership to service my car.

I just did the software update from dealer (Melody Toyota) near my house, I made appointment 3 days ahead for today. I brought car in 9:00 am and the promise time was 1:00 pm, I went to my preferred service advisor no trouble taking car in without the recall notice from Toyota. I got car back 2 hours later...drive like normal, no noticeable different in any mode, ah...I notice my car was shinny washed and cleaned.;) :D

I did notice the battery display seems move/charge up faster then before even in ECO mode, I am sure they update the software thru the OBDII port, since I have the Cusco strut tower bar installed in the engine bay which blocking the front ECU electrical harness / connector.

So...in the service paper written: AGG09A EOE -reflash motor generator & power management. ECU - ECM calibration system update complete. EOE 0.70.

The only evidence I see that they performed an inspection is on the invoice, where it says, "Checked for codes and had none. Completed update."

Here is the service detail from Toyota for my 2012 Prius which had the recall fix performed:

CAMPAIGNS E0E-STOP SALE - SAFETY RECALL E0E - REMEDY AVAILABLE - CERTAIN 2010 - 2014 MY PRIUS VEHICLES - SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR MO TOR GENERATOR ECU AND POWER MANAGEMENT ECU ~|~INSPECTED SPIRAL CABLE LOT 6 RECOMMEND REPLACEMENT ~|~TECH PERFORMED UPDATE TO COMPLETED RECALLAGG09A

I need to check back with them about the "spiral cable" replacement. Not sure if this means they replaced the cable or not.

Called my local dealer here in Dublin, Ireland. No problem...they gave me a date and said it was due 2 recalls (2009 gen 3 model).....the other recall is something to do with a brake pump....anyone know about this?
