Regarding the brake pump, yeah. Early 2009 Gen 3 have a potential flaw in the brake pump/pressure reservoir area that, when it goes, takes your brakes with it. People who have had it happen before the recall spend lots of coin (more than $2000) to get it fixed. Good thing your brakes are working at the moment.

Had mine done today, took less than 2 hours.

They said they do not disconnect the 12v battery nor does it affect the reverse beeps setting.

Went in for my 1st service yesterday and they said that they will do the recall Monday morning. 45 mins. to an hour is time frame to do it. I haven't received my letter from Toyota yet but the dealership didn't even mention a word about having to have the letter ( some have reported that dealerships require the letter, evidently not true ).

Had mine done today - I'm not noticing any difference at all. It took close to 2 hours, though they were also doing a standard service (25,000 miles).

I had mine done. Service manager told me my car would run the same. It has and I can tell no difference at all. Took about one hour. I did not have a recall letter from Toyota. The service manager did not ask for one.

Had mind done today. Dropped off at noon and left at 2pm. They have a shuttle to the mall a mile down the road. When we returned after lunch the car was sitting in the garage. There was about a 30 minute span of time where a tech plugged in a "laptop" into the car and checked on it periodically. I am guessing it only look less than 30 minutes but the other 1.5 hours was just getting it into the schedule.

All posters here sound about right except time. Took my dealer, about 1 hr., no apptmt., because somewhere on here where I found out about it, it said no apptmt. was necessary. They already had the ability to check the car, and according to the tech writer, had only had about a dozen cars in so far to have it done. Nothing wrong with mine, so guess it has had the "software flashed", whatever that means. Tech writer said they have found nothing in any of the ones they have looked at so far, but he figured they probably would at some point. Done on the 19th.
I have 100K on the car & the only thing I have ever had go south was the cruise control, & it was out of warrantee, regards miles, but not time, and Toyota stood all but about $70. of bill to replace the switch on the steering wheel. So no complaints here, AND NO RUNAWAY!, OR "UNINTENDED ACCELERATION"!

Did mine Wednesday. Pretty routine as far as the time. I did not have a letter from Toyota and I picked my car up after about 1.5 hours.

Asked about getting the engine block heater installed and they said they WOULD NOT install it at Toyota. Directed me to somewhere else

    Had it done….

Only thing I notice is now it tells me to put my foot on the brake to start the car on the screen….

Drives funny to me now, but IDK maybe its in my head… Maybe its the rotation they did coupled with knowing they adjusted the software…

I don't like the warning on the screen.. I know to put my foot on the brake to start the car… Duh it won't start and go in gear without doing such...

What makes the warning display? As soon as you open the door? Or something else?

I noticed when I get in and hit the start button, it would pop up saying must apply foot on pedal non sense, it use to not do that before… Same area where Key Not Detected is displayed.. the Warning Box I call it.

It doesn't do it all the time….

Next time I see it I will take a picture…

Also noticed with the software update when I'm fueling and I hit the DISP it no longer goes to the Fuel Price screen, I now have to do all that manually now o_O

I was just wondering. I haven't seen it though I didn't need the update.

Good luck, I went to a toyota dealer to get this recall done and I ask them to so the ABS software update too. Went in around 730am then they came back around 12pm to tell me something went wrong during the update and the car will not start. They said they will have to order the part that went bad. They hook me up qwith a 2013 Prius for a week. BTW I have a 2010 Prius. I did notice the on board says it was doing 51mpg. Mine did that same for about 2 weeks (bought on Nov 2013)and then I cannot get more than 44mpg. Manual calculation during fill up is 40mpg. I do mostly city driving. Air pressure are OEM, mostly fill up on Chevron or Shell. Changed engine oil every 5000 miles(free from another dealer) air filter is new. What else is to do ??

Sounds like the ECU fried during the update. I think flashing the software on a car is similar to updating the BIOS on your motherboard...

Yes you are right the back-up alarm didn't change. You never know; it may have gone back to the "default" settings. I can't notice any difference in performance.

Had mine done today, no change in performance noted. They kept the car all day, but I also had them do tire rotation and looking into the cv axle noise issue that they could not duplicate...

I dropped my car at 7am this morning. When I got there, there's already a LONG LINE of Priuses waiting in line. They told me it would take about 4 hrs because there's only 2 techs working on it so I left. I told them to disable the beep beep beep backup thing and make it a single beep. I got a call at 2PM asking me to pickup my car. Everything seems well, except that they reduced my tire pressure to 35 rear and 35 front. I was running 65 front/35 rear and now my Prius feels like soft turd. I had to pump it back up so the tyres are stiff again.

Also, the backup beep is just 1 beep now. I love it.

I drove the car to downtown LA tonight and there is ONE significant thing I noticed. During heavy traffic on the 101, I put the car on EV mode. With the headlights, radio, AC on and full of passengers, normally it would only run a few feet before draining the battery. Well, I drove for about a mile on EV mode alone and there's only 1 bar missing on the battery. Amazing! I have never seen my Prius do this before. Also, the battery seems to be always full even on ECO mode. I take the same route everyday to work and I know that at the certain point, the battery will only have 2 bars left. (a long uphill drive) This never happened tonight, instead the battery remained fully charged with only 1 bar missing. Other than that, the car feels the same to me.

My new Toyota was delivered with the recall already performed. That said - most folks in the dealership had not heard about the Pri recall.
