It's all personal preference. Plastidip may not be a perfect match, I would certainly try it on something large enough to put next to the car to step back and compare. My wife drives our C and it's "Summer Rain Metallic". I told her it needs mud flaps and she asked if they could be pink. I said that would only look good if it also had a wide pink rally strip down the center of the car. I have to admit, the colors would be awesome together, and the design seems to lend itself to go-faster stripes, but I can't bring myself to do it because I have to drive it too.

you can just sand the mudguard a little and the paint will stick. i always paint my mudguards on cars because i like to have body color mud guards.

just clean them up real good give it a light sand with 100 grit paper, using a higher grit would probably a better choice. Then i just sprayed 3 coats on and let it dry. you can also spray some clear coat on it so its easier to clean and longer lasting.

ive used Dupli-Color and its a perfect match in most cases.

So after much research, I've ordered a set of mud guards for the 2011-2012 Yaris from Japan. They have arrived, the fronts mounted beautifully without any modification.

I have to add some 3M tape at the very bottom but other than that they mounted with the existing holes.

The rears, I need to drill, but I'm going to pick up some U-Nuts to assist with that. I will need to take the wheels off too.

I will post pics and create an install thread for my install. But here is a teaser pic with the front left on.

Okay everyone… these are the mudguards I got…

I didn't want to spend a lot of money especially not knowing if this was going to work or not… I also didn't want to spend a lot of time molding and cutting, etc…

For the fronts… VERY simple… they bolt right up and have the little slot the goes underneath the vehicle frame, however, in order to get a really tight snug fit to the body so theres no gap, I put my screws slightly over from where the holes were in order to get nearest the body of the vehicle.

In the pictures below you can see where I put my screws..

    IMG_0105.JPG

There is a hole at the bottom, I simply screwed into that with a washer and just overlapped them. But other than putting the screw in another place other than the intended hole the fronts required no modification and no cutting
IMG_0107.JPG This one you can see there are two holes precut depending on how high or low you want them, where I put my screw mounts up with the screw hole on the C, putting the screw here gets the outside lip more snug with the body rather than leaving a gap.

The rears will require you to take the wheels off… sorry… There is no other way…. With this particular mudguard as it is for a Yaris, it has a smaller rear end than the C, therefore you have to mount high and tight in order to get a snug fit. The higher you mount the less of a gab behind the actual wheel you will have… When driving from behind the vehicle you do not see the gap… I took this pic to give you an idea..

There are holes on the rear guards but no holes in the rear of the vehicle just all plastic so where ever you choose to place them thats where the u-nuts should go on the back. To insure a snug fit, I also used 3M tape on the inner flaps and seeing as there are no screw holes or hollow holes on the rear, I reached behind the flap and used a u-nut so the screws will self tighten and hold the rear guards on.

The rears I would say took me about an hour… 30 min ea side with jacking the car up taking the wheels off, etc.. Make sure you have alcohol to clean the body surfaces and the wheel arches so that they two sided stick tape actually sticks.

I hope this makes some sort of sense, this is my first time writing an install post.

Great write up, I order a set as well. I might leave them black, or use Dupli-Color and make them white. I have a Moonglow, so I do not think it will stand out that bad (the white on moonglow) since they will be dirty for a majority of the time.

So if one uses the rear guards for the 2012 Prius and front guards for the Yaris, it'd be an easy install with minimal modifications?

Probably, but no guarantees and this set I think had very little modifications. You're still going to have to secure the rears to something…

How long did the guards take to get to you? Pretty good price. So are there any gaps that are visible following your method?

Following my method, there are no gaps…. but I also used 3M tape to insure no gaps on certain areas. The hard arch line from the door to the rocker panel for instance, I have a piece there. I tried taking some close up shots of the guards and the body. I took my time figuring out what was going to look good and work well for me.

I think they arrived in less than 2 weeks, I was surprised at how fast they arrived. I was expecting them next month.

    For $16.00 I can't really complain.
