Clay barred and waxed with Turtle wax ICE before xmas and the car's clearcoat is still keeping up with the water beading. Previously used my buddy's meguairs and the water beading only lasted something like a max of 2 months. Also using the turtle wax wash every 1 - 2 weeks so that might help "rejuvenate" this wax.

Very pleased customer and will continue using turtle wax stuff :)

What is "clay baring"; I've heard of it but not sure what it involes. Nice finish by the way.

This might be a totally invalid individual case.

But I used Turtle Wax ICE on my Honda Fit for about 3 years straight. I loved it. Ease of use, and application made it great. Plus I thought it lasted well and kept the vehicle looking sharp. (It was black).

Started to continue use on my Toyota Prius.

When I went to purchase more of the Turtle Wax ICE, they had changed the formula and the packaging. The packaging now talked about how it was longer lasting and repelled dirt better.

Now this is where admittedly perhaps it was just a freak thing. But I used the "new" ICE, and just didn't feel it applied the same way, nor did I think it looked quite as good.

During this time period my Prius somehow, evidently got some evil over spray or spots on it, from nowhere anyone could figure out, and nobody really knew what they were. I can say, whatever these spots were or wherever they came from the Turtle Wax ICE did NOTHING to repel them. They seemingly appeared overnight and seeped in quickly, and getting them removed became quite a battle.

Was this the Turtle Wax ICE fault? Maybe not. Maybe whatever it was, would of gotten underneath any wax or protectant I chose to use.

However, I was just so unhappy with the evident failure of the Turtle Wax ICE along with just not feeling as good about the product since the reformulation, that I have now decided to switch back to Meguiars products.

Use to use Meguiars before switching to ICE, now back to Meguiars. Going to try Meguiars "ultimate" wax, this spring.

I have to admit, I liked the ICE product before this failure. Loved the ease of application. I could "wax" the entire vehicle in less than 1/2 hour. But I was really disappointed that evidently it did little or nothing to repel the spots that got on my vehicle.

So now I'm going back to the slightly harder to apply "real" wax and Meguiars.

Bummer to hear, guess I will stick with Meguiars or Mothers waxes.

    Opti-coat 2.0

Truly permanant unless polished off. It has become the first and only thing I do to a new cars paint once I buy it other than washing it.

Any of these other waxes and sealants, although some last a little longer than others, do wear off and are severely impacted by salt etc. Not opti-coat 2.0

I try to wash it weekly just because I love it so much. Unfortunately because of work, I end up washing it every other week....Or you could say twice a month :)

I'm not sure wax can repel anything the environment throws at it such in your case. I still find tar and stuff on my car after use of this wax but I don't think the wax will create a "invisible shield" on the car so that everything like bird poop will just slide right off.

The bottle of ICE will probably last me at least 2 years. I'll switch it up to something different when it comes time for the spring waxing session.

"Clay barring" involves rubbing a piece of soft clay over your car's finish after you wash it to remove invisible/visible contaminants on the clear coat. Google it and you'll find out :)

I agree with your findings. The Ice product line from Turtle Wax is impressive and easier to use than other products. Like all products I have used in the past and learned lessons from, I do have to be careful with the time I use it. But, if the temperatures continue the way they have been in the south, maybe that won't be an issue. I think that the success one has with a product is entirely dependent on the paint color. There seems to be some differences, but I am not regretting a silver car.

I admit my situation and happening might just be personal and unique and highly unlucky.
I also admit that up to my "latest" bottle of Turtle Wax ICE, and the unfortunate contamination of my vehicle with some unknown nasty spots, I was a big proponent and supporter of ICE.

But they did reformulate it a while back, supposedly making it more repellent and longer lasting. I did not like the reformulation as much as the original.

But I admit...in my case, it might simply be, being stung so badly with an outside random happening..that my perhaps unfair disappointment in it's failure will at least temporarily lead me back to Meguiars products.

This spring when I use Meguiars again, I'll let you know exactly what I choose to use, and how I think it lasts or responds.

I'd also be interested in any opinions on long term use of ICE.
