I cannot find an incident exactly like mine so, here goes.....

Drove to church this morning. Used cruise. Parked on slight incline. Applied parking brake.
    Everything was peachy.

Got in car. Powered on. BLAM! I get the "red triangle of death", the (!) light, and the engine light.
Now what? I drove the car to my destination about a mile and a half away. Made about 5 stops.
No brake problems whatsoever. No other indicator lights came on i.e. temp, etc.
Parked. Ate. Powered car on. Looked as if the battery indicator was showing me there was almost no battery power left. Applied gas. No engine rev.
Drove around the parking lot and BLAM! I get a fully charged battery indicator! All green but all the lights are still on. No funny sounds. No funny jolts, jumps, shimmies, etc.

Dear hubby came and said let's take her home, which is about 25 miles. Off we go.
Acceleration good. Plenty of power and the battery indicator shows battery charging. All seems right with the world except those SMART lights.
On the way I brake, shift into B, back into D, sped up, coasted, braked....nothing.
This is when I decided it's a freak thing and I go to set the cruise.
    NO CRUISE.
Question: could my cruise switch be causing all these indicator lights?

Thanks so much for any help! I am not sure if this could be as simple as the switch needing replacing or if I need to spend 1k just to diagnose.

Just a side note Cruse Control never works in B. (You only use B when descending long hills to save the brakes, just like L in a 'normal' automatic)

Thanks but today is the very first time I have ever driven it intentionally in B. I was trying everything.

The cruise control switch is not the problem. You need to have the diagnostic trouble codes retrieved.

    Did you check oil levels?

Have not checked any fluids at the moment because of the rain soaked ground and 34 degree F temps.
I will be checking fluids ASAP.
Low oil level will cause these lights? So, cruise control not working and lights all of a sudden are coincidence?

check your 12 volt, it could be as simple as that. or it could be more complicated. how many miles on her? how long have you owned her?

A low oil level will not cause those lights but it does not hurt to check all engine compartment fluids.

It is not a coincidence that the warning lights appeared at the same time that the cruise control stopped working. However, the cause of the warning lights is not a failed cruise control switch. Rather, the power train has a fault that prevents the cruise control from engaging.

    bisco!
Had her 6 years and not a minutes trouble really.
The nastiness of the weather is prohibiting me from checking anything this afternoon but I am calling the dealership in the morning.

Thanks so much! Y'all have been SO helpful!

Oh and I will post back here when the problem is found. May help someone else in the future.

Have them give you Condition Codes like P0030, ideally with sub codes if any.

Expert (Mr. Wong, among others) can diagnose what would generate such a code.

    Hello all!
My car is fixed, fixed, fixed! Ugh!
The good news is it cost me almost $700.oo.
The GOOD GOOD news is that it WAS my Hybrid battery and that was under warranty by the skin of my teeth! I mean by days here!

    Here are the codes:
    P3000
    P0A80
    P3016

Hybrid water pump, pedal issue, and steering shaft issue all under recall.

    My cost was:
Electric battery needed replacing as it was almost dead by the time I got it to the dealership.
    My serpentine belt was cracked.
My coolant inverter needed replacing and had a coolant flush.
Replaced the outside to cabin air filter...GOOD GRIEF A MOUSE NEST ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE THING.
    Replaced left headlight.
Had headlight restoration done on the covers. They were incredibly bad.
    Had wiper inserts replaced.
Oil change and all fluids checked that needed checking and "topped off".
    I think that's all

I hope that is all I need for a while!

Hope this helps someone down the road!

    Uhh...no pun intended.
