I was trying to be good and searched the web for quite awhile looking for a picture of the part I found lying under the seat of the Prius while searching for mice.

So, I do not have to bug you people and post a photo and ask if you could tell what it is....

But, during my search, ran into a site that seems to have lots of used Prius junk as well as used Prius cars for sale as well as a few other models.,...

    Pretty interesting to page through...

    Anyone know anything about:

This website doesn't have any address to it, only indicator of the location is the phone number with a 573 area code, which is St. Louis.

Seems like a garage operation.........working off the inventory of a bigger salvage yard, performance shop, or similar operation. They want to remain a secret

I find it funny they have v10 viper and other race car performance stuff and hybrid prius stuff together. What do they really specialize in?

I found it strange that none of "about us" or that type of stuff on the site said anything concrete about who they are or where they are.

Then P&T Prius comes up with the old thread. Very interesting. Well, if nothing else, it reminded me about checking the local wrecking yard if I need parts.

The only thing is that our local wrecking yard usually charges prices that come to about 25 percent less than new....

So, what was the part that you found, and is it possible that it was left by a mouse trying to mess with your mind?
autobeyours.com specializes in 2G Prius parts and is an excellent used parts source.

    Ron, you are beyond horrible!!!:D

Patrick: first thanks for link on parts. As my car is not getting any younger....

Secondly, a bit miffed that you asked what part I found. Hoped that would slide by without anyone asking.

It is the console tray. I swear, I do not remember it. And have no idea how it got under the seats.....I tried to fit it in the glove box, but no luck....

Kris, at least, know you are :love:d

I wanted to find a mouse trap, but settled for the mice.

Back to topic now... I too would like to know or at least see a picture of it since you brought the subject up. It's always amazing what you find under the seats.

I think Kris is talking about the rectangular tray that fits in the center console between the two front seats.

She's lucky. Ours never came with it. Evidently someone swiped it before we took possession. But it makes for more room in the console.

Yeah, guys, I admit. Dumb dishwater blonde.

It is the tray that goes in the console. As I said, I was hoping no sharp-eyed person would ask what I found.

I found it under the passenger seat last night. I wondered what it was. Then I thought it must be that piece that everyone talks about that goes in the glove compartment. But, try as I might, it did not attach anywhere in there.

So, I went to Google images. Tray, Prius. Did not take too long. Still don't need it, but at least I know what it is. I felt pretty stupid, but at least I did not post it here asking what it was...but, of course now...everyone knows how dumb I was.

The upper glove compartment has a removable shelf. I take it that piece is missing in your car?

The good news is that by not having the shelf installed, there is more room for your mice... :p

Alas, the current crop of meeces seem to have gone to meet their maker. I caught three in snap traps and my dog caught two in the past two days.

I also screened off everything that could be screened, I think. And my windshield wipers still work after all that! :)

The removable shelf is (was) installed in my GB, I think it was there when I picked up the car from the dealer. At least I do not remember putting it in.

BUT that crazy console tray. I really do not remember it at all.

When I found it last night, I was a bit baffled. Then I thought, GLOVE BOX. But, no. I can PUT IT IN THE BOX, but all it does is slide around. That made no sense.

Unless I was missing something. So, I decided to take a pix and post. But, thought I would try to find it on Google images before I posted. Anyway, Google images was my friend as I had an "ah ha" moment when I learned what the tray was actually "for."
Still do not need it for anything -- it is sitting on top my refrigerator at the moment -- but at least I know what it is and what it does.

This sounds like a great success story! Any problem accessing the cowl area?

How about the vents in the rear fenders?

Rear fenders....I don't think my car has that option....

Too lazy and have never had mice in the back of the car....I think they are just attracted to the front of the car by the soybean wiring insulation....famous last words...:barefoot:

Actually, it does. Patrick is referring to the vents on the left and right side under the floor board. Remember when you changed your battery? One of the vents were plain in sight. They look like black rectangles. The one on the right side by the 12 volt sits on the inside wall of the fender directly behind where the vent duct ends coming from the traction battery. That duct is normally removed when the 12 volt battery is swapped.

Look at the picture below. This should jog your memory.
