Headlight Question

    I have seen many mods to headlights in the 2012 prius, many of them have upgraded to HIDS and what not. My question is the little bulb in the top of the headlight housing i see is like a blue or LED color, yet i cannot find anything about them anywhere. Love the look and would match my HID kit once i get installed this weekend.......Any one know anything about this? Thanks

    The parking light bulb at the top of the housing is incandescent, not led. Only the Prius Five or the PiP Advanced that comes with LED headlights has LED parking lights IN THE UNITED STATES. Changing that bulb to LED is quite simple as MANY have done on here, its the same bulb as the map lights.

    Did you buy the car used? Maybe someone already replaced that bulb but for sure, oem, the parking light bulb is incandescent.

    Here in UK these are called sidelights. All cars have these and they are used when it is getting dark but not dark enough for headlights to be turned on. They are just to allow other people in cars to see you and pedestrians.

    When you turn headlights on they stay on.

    I have changed mine to LED.

    My Prius G's HID headlights have a white LED parking light bar similar to the Lexus DRLs

    Best place to buy is eBay as they are super cheap. Bulb type is T10.

    Most are around 6000k so a blue ting. I wanted around 4300k so white like my HIDs, which I managed to get after lookin around.

    The parking light is an integrated LED bulb that is in the headlight & is not serviceable.

    So you just plug an oem wire into it? I just ordered a used one I hope it's working correctly, thanks.

    Yes. There is a 4 pin white connector on the back of the headlight. 2 wires ate for the ballast that lights up the D4S low beam bulb. The other 2 wires are for the parking light

    The headlights didn't come with a ballast, but I do have ballast from a xenon hid for my oem set up. Would that work? Or do I need to buy new ballast?

    I wasn't able to find any 4300k, so I had to put up with a 6000k.....
    mind telling us WHERE you got your 4300k's ?

    These headlights have an opening on the bottom for a Denso D4S ballast.

    You can use any ballast You want however you will need to find a good method of sealing you the opening on the bottom of the headlight were the Denso ballast goes.
