    I agree it isn't shocking.
All I am saying is I won't jump to conclusions, disrespecting the dead.
What the driver was doing is illegal. What Paul did was to get into the car with a driver.

Is a passenger doing something illegal by getting into a vehicle where the driver does something illegal?

Maybe NOT illegal, but given 20/20 hindsight, it wasn't SMART.

It's not illegal, also, to get in th car with a drunk driver. But it sure isn't SMART.

    It may also be FATAL.

    Heres my thoughts on it:

Walker was a known fast and flashy car enthusiast, I believe he even co-founded a company that modified street cars to be ridiculously fast. As a matter of fact, wasnt he at some kind of fast car/race event before this crash happened? Either way, The driver and himself (yes Im blaming him partially as well) could've killed somebody with their stupid actions. The whole situation is bittersucky (I made that up btw - feel free to use it!) :D

Too bad, he was in the top 3 of "best looking males" I've ever seen. From what I heard too, he actually seemed like a good dude (aside from dating underage barely pubescent girls) and was very generous with giving some of his success money to charities and the like.

A good friend of mine died by someone else's driving. It's a sad thing all around. As for all the hype and grandstanding around the F/F thing, I have no comment.

There are some very strange comments in this thread. No matter who was at fault or whether it was enevitable, two men died in a car that day, both of which have families and friends who will always miss them.

    May they both RIP

Am I missing something. didn't Paul make a living promoting the very type of illigal driving that caused his death. I know it was video games and movies, but it's still the same type of driving. That IMHO is not disrespecting the dead.

His charity is only effective, if he is alive.

Unless, you are Marylyn Monroe, Elvis or Michael Jackson.

I believe the cause of the accident of course was stupidity and showing off but somewhere I read they were leaving a parking lot. If this was true, the driver must have stepped on the gas while turning the steering wheel in an attempt to burn rubber to show off. Even in a mid-engined car, when you accelerate, the weight goes back to the rear wheels making the front wheels light and difficult to steer. Combined with the old tires that may have burst (may have been under inflated too) and the sub 4 sec acceleration (0-60mph) the driver had no control from the beginning resulting in the crash. You can see many examples of this on YouTube. Just look up street racing crashes.
Showing off and speed almost always result in disaster for both experienced and inexperienced drivers.

I took a peek at the LA Times article, and my immediate "take-away thought" was what a scruffy bunch of glitterati! Obviously nobody thought of getting Gillette to sponsor a shave-in! What a waste of good wheels, and I'm sure all the lawyers are rubbing their paws with glee, and smiling!

I can't help thinking that Darwin was on to something…
