its because the throttle curve is applying more power earlier as you push the pedal. Ie dumping more fuel and opening the throttle plates faster. so it feels snappier and more responsive if you don't go to WOT.

Once you get to WOT its the same power in all three modes.

come down to VA and we can do some empirical testing between your 2010 iv and mine...I guess I'll have to get the paid version of torque since it will do 0-60 times...and run a test....

I agree. Power mode provides more fuel sooner which results in faster initial acceleration in situations when you need it most. Seat of the pants testing is all you need to measure that.

but if you push the pedal faster in ECO mode... you get the same result...as you would in power mode...

I doubt if my foot can push the accelerator as fast in ECO mode as the PCM can in power mode. If that were the case, there would not be a need for a power mode.

Maybe he just messed up his signature? He's complaining it won't stay in PWR. No matter, think h'e gone anyway, and the debate rages on, lol.

I can't abide ECO, pedal travel way too long, think I'd have leg joint problem from all the excess tromping. Normal feels ok.

I often drive the wife's 2008 Prius. Its one and only setting seems to be more responsive than my 2010 in "default/normal" mode. So I drive the 2010 in Power mode all the time.

The reason I said I would by no more toyota is this instead of toyota fixing the real problem they cop out with a software down grade on the car the recall they did on mine took a lot of power away from the car. I had the car for less than 30 days I get the software to keep the inverter from overloading the bipolar transistors and the end realty is I have full size Toyota Prius that my Prius c will run circle around so if that don't bother you that is great but I paid good money for this car and now it a slug

I have driven the Prius C and even after the update, the Prius will still run circles around the C while still getting better mpgs.

I was reading a pamphlet at the dealership that said the power mode increases torque and decreases the time it takes to go from 50 to 70 by approximately 1.7 sec.
