Thanks for the graph. I tried to suck back in my comment for accuracy sake. The comment above that mentioned pedal response is probably more accurate. Being new at this prius thing and a 30 year electronics guy, I was thinking more of a potentiometer taper change. There are linear and log (logarithmic) pots. Log pots have more of a gradual taper where as linear are much more touchy. Could this be the reason for the perception of more (sooner) acceleration?

Yes. You can check your VIN on the Toyota website.

Wow. I just bought mine 2 weeks ago. Surely it should have been cut in at the factory.

If it takes you 16 seconds to hit 60 mph and you are going WOT, there is definitely something wrong with your car.

Sorry for thinking you were a troll.
But come on? You have to admit that it sounded and looked very "trollish".

Yep, I had the update and I can barely notice a difference.
    So something definitely went wrong.

At least you'll get a whole new unit, and then perhaps can get back to enjoying your Persona.

Yeah, the update really doesn't make a huge difference that I can tell. I can still push her well past illegal highway speeds well before hitting the highway and pass any cars I need to pass.

Post-update, out-of-the-blue last night my wife says: she likes the update, the car slips into (and stays in) stealth mode more readily. This was my hunch too, but I'm fairly obsessive about the car's behaviours.

Hmm I live in SF and power mode isn't necessary. Normal is good. I will say hill starts would be better if the car didn't roll back so easily. I don't enjoy needing to engage hill start assist frequently. I actually end up driving with two pedals. I guess this is less of an issue if the person behind me isn't 5 inches away from my bumper...

I've only used powermode for fun as well as for very short freeway merges.

I use power mode all the time and I do realize it isn't any faster. I just like the feeling of pressing the accelerator slightly and getting a decent initial jump. I don't think it's effecting my mileage because I get high 50's in South Florida.

My wife admitted to me tonight that she used power mode in my Prius and made the tires spin out a bit. I am afraid she is starting to like my Prius too much. It's been 4 days now and she doesn't have any indication of wanting to give me back my car. I'd drive her Forte Koup, but only getting 30 mpg just feels so dirty and foreign to me now.

I use power mode all the time in SF. It makes the car feel lighter and faster. I realize it is just changing the pedal response. To me it feels like I am driving through mud or the e brake is on when I use normal or Eco mode.
I also wish the car would remember settings. My other car is very manual and everything is just the way you left it. The Prius needs throttle mode and climate settings to be selected every time. Not that it is so difficult to press buttons it is just an annoying Toyota user interface thing. Honda cars fit me better. Too bad honda doesn't compete with Toyota in the used hybrid market where I bought my Prius.

(If Power Mode could be the default, Toyota would have to use it to pass the EPA MPG test, so it isn't)

In the gen 2 and v my climate setting stay the same for months, until I need Defrost. My v has kept Eco for a year and a half, and still has too much power, I keep breaking traction.
