:)Good point. Might take some effort, or if you find a good deal, buy it and sell yours.

I think in the same way. Most of the OEM high tech options are worth and more expensive than aftermarket options. In another hand having a system alerting you is better than not having anything.

Yes, that could be an option. The problem is that the maintenance cost of an used car usually is higher. After few weeks of driving you start finding all the things that the previous owner or the dealer never mentioned to you and if you didn't get an extended warranty when you got it you may ending paying a lot of extra money in repairs. So trading in a new car for an old one just to get extra features doesn't sound to me a smart move. At least it's a risky one.

This shouldn't be an issue given Toyota's reliability; however, you can always purchase an extended warranty (through here) before the standard warranty is up if you're uncomfortable with the unknowables. You may have bought your car new, but you'd be trading a used car for another used car. Only you can decide if the addition of the car actually keeping its distance via DRCC and centering itself in the lane (not merely alerting you which can be annoying if you're constantly conscious of it and risk becoming desensitized to it) is worth the trade.

That's the part that makes me hesitate, I'm not picturing the system in a highway giving you constant alerts.

It'd be nice to know exactly how it works. With DRCC, it'll slow down with the car in front without annoying alerts unless it's a sudden deceleration that could potentially require further braking from the driver. It's the Lane Keep Alert that can be annoying at times if lane markings are difficult for the camera to detect.

Here are few videos that I found from reviewers that I trust.

:)Has some nice features. Seems to work well. The average owner with modding experience could do a nice, cost free installation. It's easy to equate cost with size and weight. For $850, a big screen TV or refrigerator seems fair. Technology and especially new technology is expensive. I payed over $900 for a new technology RCA VHS VCR in December 1977. My first Garmin GPS in 2002 was $800 and huge in size. I like the technology this item provides as a aftermarket item, but I doubt I'd purchase it. My Prius Plug In Advance is my first with a similar factory system.

If you have a factory one what would be the reason to install an extra one ;-)

I wonder if someone would be able to take that Mobileye and Raspberry and make it an active system instead of an passive system.

:)Speaking in terms if I didn't have the factory system.
