I'm looking to buy a used Prius I been searching around locally and Craig's list

Ran across this one on Craig's looks interesting the listing says touring package
Can anyone tell from the pictures what features it has and if this really is the touring package ?

The one thing that's turning me off big deal killer I don't see a full screen display is this just the standard system not the premium with Nav and rear camera ?

Here's the link to the deal

2010 TOYOTA PRIUS HYBRID LEATHER 52K CLEAN CARFAX***45 MPG***

There is no touring package for 2010. The 17 inch wheels are consistent with a trim level 5.

It has package 5 wheels but it does not have a navigation screen. Maybe no backup camera? Priced a bit too low too.

+1 to both of the above; looks like a V (later renamed to Five to avoid confusion with the v) with no options; I think two packages were offered - the navigation, and the advanced tech (which included nav).

A little funny that they apparently put on 2000 miles between writing the ad and taking photos for it, considering the relatively low odometer reading - 2000 miles would probably be like 2 months of driving if they averaged the same rate over 4 years...

Where does the backup camera appear? I can't imagine a V with no camera

That seller sounds mentally challenged and is too lazy to write a decent ad.

Might be a Two base model with 17" wheels added. Weird.

gen II Prius ? Ewwwww

Looks pretty good I'm sure you can get it for even a few K less considering its a Rebuilt Title

A quick search of the vin # shows you what they don't want you to see what the thing looked like before the rebuild

If it has been properly repaired then there's no issue. Growing up my parents had a 1997 Chrysler Concorde that was a salvage title but the car was flawless for them. It was repaired by a shop that only worked on salvaged Chrysler Concordes, 300Ms & LHS's and Dodge Intrepids. Thus he was able to do excellent work because he only worked on four models of car which were all the same basic car just with different bodies.

It would be good to compare how the salvage Prius drives next to a 2010 Prius with identical features that has never been in an accident. If the salvage car feels different then you should walk away. Also, was there frame damage? That's much harder to repair. The car that my parents owned had no frame damage in the accident. The shop who sold it to us showed us pictures of the car before he fixed it and provided us with a detailed list of everything he had to fix. That's the mark of a good salvage seller.

don't by a salvage prius unless you are a competent hybrid tech, or are looking for a 'fun' project. the issues can be endless. as far as genII vs gen III, they are both great cars and quite similar, so drive each for your own evaluation. you will get plenty of opinions both ways from priuschatters.(y)

Florida = Flood. but not just any water flooding. SALT WATER flooding... to much risk IMO for a salvage title prius..

gen III Prius has the improved hybrid drivetrain with reduction gear for one of the motor generators allowing the car to EV at higher speeds. and from what I recall, the gen III EVs a lot more at low speeds than the genII

I don't know if it has one, but if it does, it would be viewed in the rear-view mirror. The manual shows that as an option; if the rear view monitor system is equipped but the navigation system is not, the camera screen is included as part of the HomeLink mirror.

I wondered that briefly too, but think it's unlikely given that it has leather, too. I think I can see the seat heater buttons too, but I can't tell for sure. So it's likely at least a IV or V, and probably a V.

I've been looking at so many cars my head spinning
This one here to me really really stands out Clean 2012 Dark Gray Toyota Prius Only 15k miles!!!!

Love the interior and exterior colors now after seeing this I know these are the colors I'm looking for :)
I'm temped to jump on this to me its a good deal extremely low miles beautiful car just i really want leather seats its the only thing holding me back ?

Then theirs this one killer price on a 2014 model Toyota Prius 2014

Talked to the guy selling this one on the phone a for a long time local guy with a dealers license buying and selling says he bought the car for $15k for guy who was going to export it and the dude backed backed out last minute I'm tempting because 2014 and the price but not really to excited about white and really wanted leather the above one looks better to me Any idea from the pictures what package this one is?

Going back to rebuilt salvage vehicles that dealer guy tells me If I'm looking to save big to go with a salvage vehicles says him his wife and daughter are all driving them says hes working with 4 different local body shops fix them up so perfect you never know they were damaged. he sent me me one of the main sites hes buying from Here
    Insurance Auto Auctions: Search: Vehicles

He says you you can get best deals there if you know what to buy and what not to buy says single impact cars with damage on the sides are best

There is no warranty on salvage cars, unless it's 5000 bucks, I would look for a clean title

aftermarket leather is pretty sweet, i wouldn't let cloth hold me back from a good deal.

The red ext/tan int in the Craig's List ad could be a Prius Three, has connectivity with JBL... looks like the small JBL square is on the front door speakers. Most likely not a Five, unless a Five didn't come equipped with Nav. I've never seen a Five without Nav.

Never buy a salvage title. If there is something wrong with it or something goes wrong, you'll be stuck with repair and won't be able to sell it easily. Too risky.
