How to remove rear seat on 2010-14 prius

I just used the OR method above...couldn't get loop hooks to lock in receptacles after installing rear seat cover...near impossible to apply enough pressure to get them to lock. Went by local Toyota dealership and bought 2 white plastic receptacles the hooks snap into ($3.75 each) ...removed old receptacles from car floor (they are difficult to get out and chances are you will damage them getting them out), used rubber mallet to connect new receptacles to seat bottom hooks. The new receptacles went into the holes in the car floor very easily and snapped in place...dont forget to make sure the hooks in the back of the seat are hooked properly and the seatbelts are on top of the seat! Thanks bear15 for a great and cheap solution!

 

Hmm, I had no problem at all when I did this a few months ago. If they won't snap back -sit on the seat and bounce-! DO be careful to control the belts. Otherwise you could be pulling it off again to find them.

 

It worked fine the first time I removed the seats to make sure it could be done. The hooks clicked right back into the receptacles. Two weeks later after putting seat covers on no amount of bouncing would work...not sure what the prob was but had to resort to the receptacle method above.

 

Do you have photos with the rear seat removed?

I am looking for a place to stow a 1.5/3.0 kW inverter. The area behind the battery is pretty well filled or I have to do something creative about the rear, under floor area and spare tire. But after seeing a photo of the 'Prius c' area under the rear seat where the 12V battery is stored, I'm wondering if the ZVW30 might have some 'stow' space there.

The other thing I'm thinking about is making a split, rear seat to ease transportation of my wife's battery powered, chair. Right now, I can put it in but it is tight. But if the seat half behind the driver is removed, we'll gain a lot of 'cargo' volume.

Does any one know how to remove rear seat on third generation prius to install seat covers. I have completed the front seat installation that was easy. I've read previous posts and followed the instructions but still unable to remove the rear seats

 

I need to remove the rear seats to for leather seat installation cant find any directions on how to take the rear seats out?

I wish I could see the Youtube on this so I can visualize this better.

 

I'm probably going to need these instructions, too. I'm interested in some PVC or leather covers but I have no clue how to remove the back seats.

Clazzio leather seat covers comes with instruction on how to remove the rear seats.

 

Went to the Toyota Dealership and got help on the removal of seats Push in with your knee on the left side and lift up hard then go to right side and do the same thing. You can follow direction on this my directions straight from the dealership is way better would hate that you screwed something up on this.

 

Thanks for the dealer-approved instructions. I got the back seat out on my first try. Luckily, I was even able to re-install the seat (with my new Clazzio's) without much of a hassle. Thank you again for sharing

I'm installing a full set of Coverking Spacer Mesh seat covers from AutoAnything into my 2013 Prius Two and ran into the roadblock of how to get the straps underneath the rear seat's bottom cushion. There's not enough room to pass the straps through, so the seat base needs to be removed. I didn't find any diagrams online for how to remove/install the seat, but even better I found a great 'how to' that starts at the 9:30 mark in this video. PriusChat wouldn't let me include the link, so I listed the title on YouTube for people to search for the video instead. This is my first post on PriusChat, and I'm just trying to provide some assistance to other Prius owners.

Photos show location of the plastic seat receptacles for the rear seats. I used a ball joint separator to pry up the seat. Insert it as a pry bar at the receptacle on each side to get the seat out. I did one side at a time. My rear seat took a LOT of effort before finally popping out. Could not pop it out of the receptacles by simply pulling up the seat. Good luck.
