When the weather is rainy I like to leave my doors open so things can dry out in my garage. When I do this the dash shows the doors as open. I worry about running down the battery if I do this, so I don't. Any ideas about how to turn this off? Also when I open the rear hatch a light goes on there and it has no switch - I would like to be able to turn this off also. Silly I know, but.....

Not so silly. Our regular prius hatch light has a switch, integrated into the light bezel. Opening either front door also turns on a light in the door, and little blue light in the door sill chrome piece. And lights in the foot wells. At least opening rear doors (apparently) turns no lights on. Oh, except the roof light (aka dome light), at least unless you switch it fully off.

I've got all lights with switches on ours off. For ones without switches you could opt to pull the light out and disconnect the lead.

or put a quick disconnect on the battery or a trickle charger.

    Those areas are not sealed.
If the water can get in, so can the AIR.

A quick wipe with a rag would be much simpler.......if you MUST obsess about it.

Except for a 1969 VW van, I don't remember EVER seeing a car that had significant rust on the door jams.

And installing an LED bulb for the hatch/trunk should solve that problem.
Even the weak little battery in a Prius should be able to keep one LED running for weeks.

Hm. The c automatically shuts off the headlights and interior lights after 20 minutes. I wouldn't be surprised if this applies to the dash indicators as well.
