I replaced my front and rear turn signals with these LED bad boys:

They work great and are even brighter than OEM, though they hyperflash like I expected. A new relay...

... is on its way. I love Amazon so much. Does anyone have experience replacing these units? I asked the dealer while I was in for an oil change if they knew anything about it and the service manager looked at me like I was speaking in a foreign language.

There's a long thread somewhere on here about it. Basically, you need to reach up under the steering wheel into the dash to disconnect the stock flasher. Unlike most cars, the flasher itself is fixed and does not pull out, the connector does.

The flasher relay does come out. Most people are not world class contortionists who are able to press the release tab while pulling on the relay to get it out. ;)

Gratefully received. I get the impression one needs to plank oneself on the front seat locating head adjacent to brake pedal and maneuver arms up above the steering column, but maybe the photos will show the actual contortions required.

That is what I had to do. Perhaps the newer models have made it simpler. Priusmpg I am sure will show us.

one is also able to plank on the door sill and have the head adjacent to the brake pedal. Another tip is to turn on the turn signal and use your hearing and touch senses to locate the really once in that position. I have attached a video which shows the factory relay location and I IMG_1510.JPG IMG_1512.JPG have attached photos of the connecter so one can understand where to put pressure on the plug to disconnect it.

Hey Priusmpg, that's a great video you did showing the unplugging of the flasher connector. Can you tell me what kind of Flasher (model/part number) that it is that you are installing in place of the connector shown in the video and if your problem of hyperflashing LED turn signals has been resolved? I've installed LEDs in all four turn signal locations and am also experiencing the hyperflash syndrome. thanks!

Maybe after you've done it 41 times, 41 seconds easy...

Thank you for the video guide. Will be installing mine today.

Update: Guide is so helpful. Installed mine and fixed the hyper flashing issue.
    Thank you!

Thank you everyone for the information. This maybe a dumb question....

Once the relay is installed does that mean both the front and rear signal bulbs need to be changed to LED?

Any suggestions on the best bulbs for front or rear if any?

No, you can run incandescent and LEDs in any combination.
