It's most annoying when you're talking to someone over bluetooth and they ask "Wth is that beeping noise? Are you by a stuck truck?"

Oh man, I imagine. Hmm. Maybe I should get them to remove it. I mean I know I'll be in reverse because I put it there. I'm not in the habit of sitting with a car in gear and then taking my foot off the brake. Of course I've also only ever driven automatics so that would be a non-issue for me there.

You shouldn't be talking while your driving, anyway.

Pay attention to the road. Almost every time that my car's been hit has been in a parking lot.

My dad convinced me to keep it rather than seek out a dealership that would remove it with my first oil change. He said that if someone who's unfamiliar with the car drives it, it's better to let them know the car is in reverse with the beeps since the shifter snaps back into the central position. I got used to it.

You could also ask your dealership if they will remove it at a later date if you get tired of it for free. If they say it's possible, make sure you get that in writing because they will try to find a way to weasel out of it later.

I don't really make phone calls in the car often or long enough for them to occur while in reverse. Although I am curious now if the Car Multimedia BT system that auto pauses radio/CD/music when a call comes in will auto pause the Reverse gear warning sound. (I'm assuming it doesn't, for safety reasons since taking a call is an additional distraction while driving.)

    We've kept it enabled.
See if they'll agree to undo it for you at a future date.

There's enough that's unfamiliar in driving these cars a reminder that you're in reverse is a pretty benign thing.

That is a very valid point. My husband will be able to drive this car since it's not a manual so I should probably leave it for the time being. I will ask if they can give me a paper stating they'll remove it at a later date if I so decide.

It's mostly a matter of if they'll do it for free.
You'll have two free oil changes as part of Toyota Care so they can probably handle it while the car's in for one of those.

To each his/her own but, I personally cannot imagine anyone wanting that beeping sound every time you put it in reverse omg. And... I see zero safety benefit from it.

To those who can put up with it or get used to it, you guys are greater than me. The thing is, there's no reason to "get used to it". I'm starting to feel sorry for the OP because it seems we've convinced her to put up with it or get used to it.

OP, I would be very surprised if the dealer will put that in writing and after filling out all the mandatory paperwork, you will come to a point that you wanna just leave. The reverse beeper will take the back seat and like the previous posters, you will be stuck with it and you will be forced to get used to it. At a minimum, I'd have them turn it off and if I decided I wanted it later, I'd have them turn it back on but def not the other way around.

All these I say to help you have a pleasant experience with your new car. Either way you go, you have made a great decision to get a very high performance car that can carry 5 people and a ton of groceries around town all while getting 50+mpg's. It is an extremely versatile vehicle. I continue to be impressed with Toyota Hybrids every day. Just yesterday, I netted 51.5 mpg during a half hour city driving stint in 2013 Camry Hybrid. Amazing!!!

I will drive it around when I take delivery and pay attention to it. I think I remember hearing it in my sister's car but I'm not sure. If my husband is with me, he'll be the other driver, I'll have him pay attention to it. I also think perhaps with a baby (one year old but he'll always be my baby) if he were sleeping in the car and I had to back up it might wake him. I will definitely drive it before filling out paperwork so if I want it turned off I can have them do it while I do the paperwork.

Are you picking it up today? If so, have fun with it and good luck to you and your family.

I think so. She told me yesterday that it didn't come in but it will be there today, not sure on time. She said she'd call in the morning and let me know what time but I haven't gotten a call yet. I am leaving work early today (12:00) so I am tempted to swing by on my way home, though it won't matter as then I wouldn't have anyone to drive the Mustang home.

My mom likes the reverse warning beep. But she's also a senior and appreciates all these types of reminders and warnings.

It will be at the dealer as soon as the kid bringing it up finishes blasting the radio for his friends and showing them just how much power it has :ROFLMAO:

Run away! This salesperson has revealed herself to be dishonest & that means she'll be dishonest when negotiating the price tag too (like add extra fees).

BTW Prius V means versatility (not a number). The Prius LB (Liftback) comes with solar roof but I don't recommend it. You can get the same effect by just leaving your windows open or running your car AC run for 30 seconds (and save ~1000 dollars).

The Owners Manual lists the settings that can be customized. Changing some of them makes the car much more civilized. Ask them about their policy on making changes before you sign for the car. It is reasonable to expect changes to be free once or twice. Have them changed while you are signing the papers. It's almost a waste to make a special trip.

It isn't as easy to apply the film as it looks. If it is already going into the shop to tint the windows how much more will they charge for the film? I believe the warranty applies only when the film is installed professionally.

You will also be invited to a new owners party. Attend. They give away useful stuff.

    Enjoy.
