Has anyone received a CA Green HOV Sticker yet?

I make occasional round trips from South Bay to Berkeley. My family used to regularly make round tips from here to SF. And then there's possible local driving while at either location. That's generally beyond the cruising range of all but the Tesla S. We have historically avged 12k-15k/yr.

Commuting itself is fine, but people who drive aren't *just* commuters. They may not need to drive in HOV lanes during those trips, but they do need to be able to drive. And EVs, nice as they currently are, aren't suitable for all drivers or for everyone yet.

I emailed ARB and asked them about that. Their reply:

This isn't inconsistent with what I was saying.

But in any event, if they're not out of green stickers now, they will be in the next couple of weeks.

And the likelihood is that in a few months they'll be issuing more.

Depending on how long the legislature may take, a period of uncertainty may be arguing points for discounts for anyone shopping.

Seems like ARB did not update the green sticker count today.

Here is an update, from 5/5/14:
CA Close To Extending Green HOV-Lane Sticker Program As AB-2013 Passed to Senate
...Introduced to the Assembly on February 20, Assembly Bill AB-2013 seeks to immediately increase the number of Green HOV lane stickers available to Californian residents from the original 40,000 stickers to 85,000 stickers. Pushed through the Assembly committee for Transportation and Assembly committee for Appropriations in double-quick time, it passed the Californian Assembly Floor on Friday with a vote of 63 Aye to 4 Noes and 12 NVR...

...From here, the bill has already been passed to the Senate, where it was read for the first time on Friday. It is currently awaiting attention by the Senate Committee on Rules, but is expected to be passed and voted into law in the coming few days or weeks.

Quick! Squeeze the dealer for discounts 'cause it still might not pass! (although they probably would already know and keep up with such news, wouldn't they?)

Praying!! I have 168+ plugins but only have 77 of them with HOV stickers.
Have mixed feelings about more stickers. They have nothing to do with selling price of cars. I sell non-stickered cars at such a loss, selling a few at MSRP cannot possibly make up for the negative ...
but I am a HOV sticker car owner (two of them, my EV and my PHEV) and these lanes are already so very full... ugh. It's been worse the last 4-6 months.

Really? Calling selling below MSRP "a loss" seems more than a little ridiculous to me...

The past few weeks have been especially miserable. The 91E carpool lane past like 4pm is just like any other lane, and after 5pm it's actually worse than the carpool lane. The morning commute still benefits from HOV access. I can only imagine double the number of greenies plus about double if not more the number of whites in 2018 :(

I hope the bill gets tossed! I didn't sign up for this.

You have to hand it to the car sales people. BTW, the Volt is being discounted by $5k below MSRP but I don't hear the dealers complaining of losses...

I've been selling the cars without HOV stickers at about $1300-1500 UNDER invoice. That's a loss.

Volts are being advertised at the GM-Volt forum by a dealership at $3000 BELOW invoice. Many web sources have stated that the actual cost of the car to the dealership is not the invoice number.

Chevy probably has factory to dealer cash.
I'm not sure why that's relevant to this, because we're in a Toyota forum and there's nothing like that to us in CA on Prius PlugINs.

My original point is that I hope they do add stickers from a managerial standpoint... it will help me move out a lot of inventory that's currently not pre-stickered. From a personal standpoint, it's a double edged sword for me, because the commute will just get worse for so many.

yes, but is that because of solo sticker drivers in the HOV lanes, or is it just because there are too many cars on the road trying to get thru Corona?

i look forward to the day where the 91 and 15 express lanes are done. it will be nice to be able to drive from anaheim to lake elsinore in less than an hour...sure, it might cost $20 to do it, but how much is your time worth if it shaves 45 minutes off the trip?
