2005 owner back

We bought our silver Prius 2005 the last day of March, still less than 100,000 miles -- and still very happy. However, last evening I could not release my driver seat belt shoulder belt. Obviously we have been in and out of the Prius many, many times starting in 2005. It is our only vehicle. I want to be able to see other owner's who have encountered this issue. We also still have a mixed lights issue that comes up from time to time (on the dashboard). We used to think it happens in cold weather. I notice that it comes on when we have been sitting for some time at a stopped light or in halted traffic on the Interstate.

 

You might have to buy another seat belt receiver. Autobeyours d*t c*m should have a used part you can buy.

You should check all your fluid levels in your car, including the coolant in the radiator. The light might be related to low fluid levels.

This happened in the night, Friday.
I called the dealer (always serviced, purchased 2005 March)
The service person told me (first) the same thing.
However, I told him this is a safety issue
(it should be the problem of Toyota, not an individual owner).
The service person said Well, gunk can build up in there.
I answered You mean no other owner ever reported this problem
No, I can't tell you that, the service person responded.
A seat belt receiver should be built to work "forever" and
if it doesn't, Toyota (and the dealer) should make good on it.
Is there something to do - like floss, interstitial brushing, compressed air,
WD-40, bubble gum, bailing wire, binder twine, incantations
