Anyone got bored of plugging in everyday?

Heck yea ... rated @ 7.1kW's AC. Here's us begining the install some 6 or so years ago - in anticipation of some day being able to 'plug-in' - on the cheep - whether it would be factory or a mod, it was definately going to be a plug in :



So yea ... besides NOT being 'board' with pluggin in ... we no longer get 'board' with paying electric bills every stinking month.

Unfortunately the roof in our present house is oriented N/S and is problematic for PV install.

 

Yeah, I've been planning a reroofing and researching solar to consider its viability, and I'm suddenly eyeing all properties with large SW-facing sections of roof in my nearby neighborhoods with much jealousy.

And for grins - if your ONE plug-in charging won't bore you . . . . then go ahead and charge TWO.

Like others said, it becomes a habit. You'll get disappointed, if you forget to charge it one day.

There is a downside to it. I miss those days when I can open the door and drive off with Smart Key feature.

PiP comes with Smart Key as standard but having to unplug is a feature breaking inconvenience.

The benefits far outweigh the inconvenience.

isn't one credit equal to a thousand kWh's? We've generated so far, just over 60,000kWh's. So - that'd be 60? Only thing is, the notion of 'credits' - buying/selling them was shot down in our area, so long ago, I almost forgot what they were.

Plugging in is not the hassle. It's getting on the dang generator bike and doing all the pedaling to charge the car I don't look forward to.

 

Yup, 60 SRECs. If you don't have them, someone else maybe getting them and selling them (the right to claim solar power).

If someone else is claiming, you cannot and you are left with regular grid mix -- despite PV panel on your roof.

 

I'm having a flashback ... if memory serves, our utility so Cal Edison lobbied hard & long around 5yrs ago, to assure the monitary value assigned to energy credits in Edison's service area was so poor, that prospective brokers gave up all attempts at setting up a working market for credits that polluting industries might want to buy as offsets.

I actually just come back out and unplug it after it's completed recharging so it's ready to go. At first, it was a minor inconvenience, but now I don't think much of doing it.

Well after reading my manual and learning that my charge cable will disable itself after a certain number of charges, and hearing that someone was quoted $1200 for a new charge cable, I lost a measure of enthusiasm for plugging in every day.

How is it that we use extension cords for all sorts of purposes every day, and fraying has not let to an epidemic of disastrous fires? Why is it that the PIP charging cable, which contains an integrated GFI, must disable itself after a certain number of uses? I'm sorry, but I have to conclude that this design was motivated more from financial than from safety concerns.

Never heard of this, and it would be something that dealers would have to disclose as a maintenance replacement item, which it isn't.
