That's a great blue for the Mustang, I have not seen that color here in the West!

This won't help against rocks would it? That happened to my Mustang, rocks on the freeway flew up and hit the hood when a darn van cut in close ahead of me.

This same thing happened to me at a Ford dealer for the 2000 Contour I have. It has a cover that just covers the lug nuts and they pulled it off and broke one of the plastic tab things. It was $12 for the new one I had to buy later when I realized that one wouldn't stay on.

As for the leather change. The local shop that does the leather for this dealership (I'll be going to the shop directly to save $700) actually cuts the fabric off and puts the leather on like it was there all along. It looks good. I'll have to see the covers to see how I like them as they all have zippers on them. Would having the leather replace the fabric affect the value of the car? Not that I am going to be selling anytime, this will be my son's car (he's currently 14 months) when he starts driving.

Yes. I am aware it's safer for the inside, I'm big on car seat safety. However, I have short legs and getting him in/out when in the middle is hard. I'd have to climb in each time which isn't the hard part, it's the climbing out with him, while holding my balance and not smacking his head that's the hard part. I do get comfort from the fact that the Prius has side airbags.

I bet it would have sold better out there then. :) There aren't many here, I've seen a half dozen. I know it's production numbers were that it's one in like 2,500 of that year in that color. They put her online now for sale, it's sad. :( I loved that car but I love the Prius too and it's more practical right now.

Leather re-upholstering definitely adds value to the car. Should be a good idea to have some front seat heaters added in case for cold weather.

I have GT Covers genuine leather on fronts of my car ($410 for pair). These slip over the seats. Very comfortable. I've had them in 90 F weather and it's ok using Auto / AC setting.
Exact Fit Seat Covers - GTCovers.com Front and rear rows would be under $800 or about half of a re-upholstering job. Then can remove them, resell and have pristine fabric for next buyer. another option for ya.

Full nose mask would protect from rock. I started leaving 4 seconds distance from cars in front on freeway and that seems to have helped.

Yeah, I love the heated seats I had in the Mustang. I think adding heaters would only be a couple hundred extra. I don't plan on re-selling anytime soon but in 10 years I might to get a new Prius, it depends.

Is that steering wheel cover the factory one? I miss my leather wrapped steering wheel too. :(

    Where are the zippers?

There're some Clazzio leather seat covers sold in the PriusChat shop, ~$450 for all 4-5 seats last I saw, but those are apparently not entirely leather (or is that the oem leather trim option?). Steering wheel cover too.

There is also an increased risk of damaging your back when lifting a child in and out of a center mounted car seat.

I googled them a little while back and saw some puckering. I'll have to do a little more research to see if the puckering smooths out. I do love the smell of the leather interior though.

Really? I wasn't aware of that but I can see how that can happen. With the Mustang I was hunched over his car seat while standing between it and the passenger seat to buckle him in. It was hard on my back after making a few stops because I'd have to do that to get him in and get him out. My back was my motivation to get rid of the Mustang and get the Prius.

Um, what zippers? I don't recall seeing zippers on car seats.

High end covers that go over the seats are contoured very well to slip over the seatback, then a separate piece for the seat bottom. No zippers needed.

The leather in GT Covers conforms very well after sitting in the seats for a while (breaking them in). The whole front portion is all leather.

Some American cars have zippers, so that OEM seat covers can be removed

How do you attach the seat covers? Just slip them over? I've seen some with zippers on them so when you slide them on they're more open to allow you to wiggle them down in place and then zip them to make it tight.

I was noticing all the Priuses on the road the past day or so and I have seen several BP ones but one thing I noticed is mine has a different looking front end. What is up with the black part "bleeding" onto the bumper?

That's wild. I think most original upholstery is secured to foam cushions with hog rings.
The GT Covers are called 'exact fit'. You pull the seatback cover down over, not hard to do so.
There is a flap that goes through seat bottom/back crevice and attaches to the bottom cover with a wide velcro strip (hidden). Cars that have an open crevice on back of seat .... seatback flap attaches to back of seatback cover, but in Prius, that crevice is blocked by original fabric flap.

The bottom cover has two straps that run front to back and one that runs side to side, so it secures to itself. I had to make a slit in a flap in Prius drivers seat between seat / console to feed the cover strap through, but it's out of sight. The passenger sideways strap feeds right through, no flap.

Of course the covers are not quite as tight as re-upholstered leather which gets secured to rods embedded in the foam (cushion) channels by hog rings. But, you'd never know by looking.

I think that was a model year 2013 change.

I've owned Nissan and Mazda cars in which the cloth seats had zippers OEM from the factory.

Okay. It's so strange because it's black on white and it looks like the grill was just slid in there and clipped on the front with those black parts that are "bleeding" down.
