Has anyone had this problem? I have checked and cleaned my K&N air filter so I din't think thats the problem... may be just old & weak... it collapses on acceleration and stays that way til I pop it out. Any suggestions on what I can install? Don't want the same one in there now, something that is harder would be ideal. Been searching online for one that will fit my car. Pic below. Thanks!

It must have taken a lot of suction to do that! Now that it is like that I can see it may want to go back to that shape, I would try to find a used one. Do you know what caused it to happen the first time?

I removed the hose from the air box, no issues. I wasn't having any problems, just wanted to try to help it warm up faster (do not know if it does) and I like the way it sounds.

As far as what the cause could be, it wouldn't be anything downstream from it like the filter. The actual intake (not sure where it is) is probably clogged with something. I think that hose is the weakest link, everything else is hard plastic.

Seems that K&N can't pass the Prius ICE's massive 850cfm flow demand...

So don't you already have your answer? It collapsed, when warm, because of a blockage upstream from that tube. Either it is gone, or you need to remove it. Otherwise it is going to reduce your peak power from the ICE, perhaps when you really need it. Gas mileage can't be helped either. I'd remove it and use a shop vac in blower mode aimed upstream (away from the engine, filter, etc.) It might be just a plastic bag, so the only real downside I see of using the shop vac is that you might like to listen to whatever noise the obstruction makes while you are doing that.
