... (just change oil & filter & rotate tyres plus state-inspection), I'll replace the engine and cabin air-filters myself, but is there anything else anyone would recommend or warn me against? Thanks in advance! - Wil

...not since I got the car back in Jan (this year). It might have been done before I got it - I suppose I should check the service record. Is that something I might be able to do, or is it better left to the dealer?

i haven't done it, but the people who have say it's easy. two plugs, one for drain, one for fill, fill it until it starts to run out.

+1 on the transaxle fluid. 4 bottles of WS-ATF from Toyota. What comes out will be black if it has never been done.

...I just checked the service record (on the Toyota site) and the 80k service was done just before I got the car. Looking back through the records, all the major services were done, but I did not see anything about changing the transmission oil. I understand how to do it from your post, although I don't have access to a lift, pit, or axle-stands. I just wonder what is the recommended interval for tranny-oil change? Thanks again for all this useful info. - Wil

Many recommend doing it every 60k. There is some evidence that the first change gets most of the stuff, and later changes might be able to last longer. LusciousGarage seems to recommend it every 30k.

It probably hasn't been done, and I would recommend it.
