Yeah, that's what I meant. When the ICE first starts and I'm not moving, or am crawling around the parking lot, is only 28% of the power going to MG2 to charge the battery?

I have noticed that adjusting the throttle so no lights are showning charge or discharge of battery, still has some drag on engine. if the ev light is on I have been shifting into N and coasting instead of adj throttle. this seems to let the car coast longer. My mpg seems to be a little better but time will tell.

If the EV button is lit the ICE is not spinning. The residual (very minor) drivetrain friction is the spinning PSD, but you cannot disconnect it from the wheels.

I think the only thing N is buying you is a more dangerous drive.

If it's a Top 20 list, why are there 22 cars listed?

That said, originally I wasn't going to post this, because it would only be good enough for spot #21:

    This is from April 18.

Today's fillup was at 598.2 miles, with the display reading 69.5 mpg--but my phone's battery was dead, so no way to get a picture. I'm trying to get above 70 displayed as the weather continues to warm up.

I have an update, not the best but enough to boost me higher than I was

Pulse and glide used. Normal commute to and from work some weekend driving which brings it down for me.

Tires stock Goodyear fuel max 60/58

60/58 psi?? If so, what's the max psi on the tire sidewall? If not, what are those numbers?

most likely either 51psi or 44psi.

He is definitely running above rated psi. Don't freak about it though, there is a large number of hypermilers that do that on a regular basis.

    1. some of them limit their speed, the slower you drive the higher you can increase the pressure without heat increasing the pressure in the tire
    2. some of them use nitrogen fill which also reduces the increase in pressure due to heat

If you are doing both and don't mind replacing the tires a few thousand miles early after wearing the middle of the tread without wearing the outside tread you can safely go past the psi marked on the tire. But you won't have the support of the tire manufacturer, the car manufacturer, or the support of the majority of the people who read about you doing it.

    Higher pressure lower tire temperatures.

Modern radial tires don't bulge in the center like the old cross-bias tires. Under inflated, the edges will still wear but I find it difficult to wear the center tread.

I see your fuelly mpg is very good. I think your car coasts very well!(y) I run 50 and notice a big diff in coasting with my pulse and glide over 40 psi

I really like fuelly. I have a question are your tires rated for 51 or 44 or something else. My tires are rated 44 and I have at 50 they seem to work so much better but not sure if I should push it any more. right now I am going to attempt a 700 mile tank.:D

Well my trusty 2011 silver prius Two got totaled out last Sunday. We were in Tennesee leaving back to Indiana and a Mercedes turned left in front of me, totaled the car out. We bought a new 2014 Barcelona Red Three yesterday. We looked at the Prius V not the five, but didn't like the way the seats in the back were when folded down. I fold them down for my two dogs and put their beds back there and they have a ton of room in a lift back.

Anyways it's the beginning of the new era I guess "red dawn" so to speak. Hopefully this will be another 70+ mpg commuter machine. I jacked the tires up yesterday when we got home to 60 front, 58 rear. It does have the Ecopia factory tires, I was hoping to find a red three with the good years but didn't see any mostly only black ones hash the Goodyear for some reason and many had the Yokohama. I will start a new fuelly for this vehicle and try to keep it updated.

    Thanks for reading.

What a bummer! Hope you all came thru the incident without injuries including the dogs. I purchased a 14 last December. It's one fine car. Enjoy, h
