I'm new to the Prius world and am looking very seriously at a 2010 with 170,000 miles on it. Is there anything that I should be afraid of. The vast majority of the miles were on highway since the vehical has only been in service for roughly 3.5 yrs. All of the CarFax info looks good and it was serviced by the Toyota dealer in town.

other than the fact that anything could break at any time, and your warranty is up, these cars are good for 3-400,000 miles. all the best!(y)

I'm at 200,000 KMs (124,000 miles approx). Car is running like new. Oils stays clear between changes. (10,000 kms in Aus) The electric motors seem to whine a little louder than when new but no problems. I can't predict what it will be like in 50,000 miles, but going on past experience with Toyotas, I would guess few difficulties.

It sounds good as long as it is being offered at a reasonable price. Expect to spend big in the future doing a battery and or inverter. If the car is only $ 2-3 k less than something with under 100k miles it would not be worth it.
