How do you reset ABS light & yellow ((!)) with Mini VCI and techstream

    Hey guys I have successfully gotten Techstream running properly and just bought a new brake position sensor and will be putting it in which I am hoping will fix the problem with all the lights.
    The dealer told me my ECU was bad to a tune of $2300 and really want to reset the system after and hope that was my problem and it fixed it.

    Can someone please give me instructions on how to proceed.

    I haven't had to reset the skid control ECU DTC with Mini VCI. However I would expect the process to consist of the following:

    1) Connect Mini VCI to the Prius, make the Prius IG-ON (not READY) so all instrument panel warning lights are on
    2) Get the Mini VCI to communicate with the Prius
    3) Connect to the skid control ECU
    4) Display the DTC logged by the skid control ECU and record them for future use
    5) Look at the menus provided by Mini VCI to see how to clear the DTC
    6) If you can't figure that out, there is always the workaround of shorting pins 4 and 13 on the OBD-II connector, many posts on PC about exactly how to accomplish that.

    You should log and clear the DTC before installing the sensor, then drive the car to see if the same DTC come back.

    Then after you've installed the sensor, clear the DTC again and see what new DTC if any are logged. Good luck.

    I had the same issue; turned out to be a bad fuse.

    However, even with the fuse replaced the (!) and (ABS) light were still on....could not clear the DTCs.

    Brought up mini VCI, did a zero-point calibration (under ABS/TRACS menu), good to go.

    Hey Patrick so I tried clearing codes in the VSC skid control system and it didn't appear to have any affect, I guess it isnt going to be that easy and I am going to be forced to swap the ECU Skid Control Unit after all, the dealer said the same thing, they said the ECU wasnt communicating and/or responding

    It was the OBD fuse under the dash; symptoms were (!) red (!) yellow (ABS) on, could not reset, would not access all ECUs with mini VCI. Regular OBD worked fine. Took an ohm meter to all the fuses under the dash, found the blown one, everything came up.

    ECU wasn't replaced; my problem turned out to be a blown fuse.

    What issues are you seeing?

    oh Lord I have a whole thread that Patrick and a couple others were helping me on.. turned out when I took it to shop for tinting and on the way home I got the dashboard christmas tree lights, and have found that leaving interior lights on could cause all sorts of havoc when it drained the 12V battery, but long story short I have FL wheel sensor out, on codes C0205, then another one saying tip of sensor metal stuck.. so I replaced the sensor, got all the same codes back again with a YAW one.. so I got my Mini VCI in mail this weekend and cleared the codes (or thought I had) and they then came on the following evening :(

    Patrick was telling me next to subscribe to the toyota techstream support site, waiting to hear which ones I need to subscribe to get some information on calibration, checking sensors, i do not know.. I am starting to wonder if I need an ECU computer that the stealership was trying to get me to buy before it turned out to be wheel sensor issue.. strange.

    I need to better learn mini VCI diagnostics to get down to the real culprit instead of clearing DTC codes with it every single day as I see I am stuck in the 'loop' of not getting the root issue completely fixed.

    Fazil can the mini VCI locate a blown fuse?
    Can it tell you if the wiring harness is bad?

    PKwhisker, the mini vci is not something that will fix your problems....but instead it helps locate your problems through DTC, kinda points you to the right direction. You at that point would have to address the issue it points to.

    Erasing the error codes does not fix the problem.....it just erases the notification to the problem, until it has to notify you again.

    Unless the DTC is from a mis-calibration, then the techstream (VCI) may also be the solution.

    Yes I know that the CI does not fix the problems the issues that I'm having our parts that were already replaced and getting the same codes over and over again .. Hence Patrick told me to get the VCI and just AS sagebrush sad I'm hoping that THE calibration wILL work I did that tonight..

    mini VCI will point you in the direction of the fault, but not fully locate it.

    I read through your thread; have you checked the 12V battery? Here's the procedure:

    I too drained my 12V accidentally last year and was getting an intermittent triangle of death/ABS/VSC. Pulled it out and charged it overnight; problem solved.

    WHOA! WHOA! WHOA! To date, I have never seen a defective skid control unit. I've seen tons of other stuff, but not that. I have also came across several times where other shops, including dealers, have condemned skid control units, but I've always found the problem was elsewhere. Now, lets see what we can do with these two beasts.

    pkwhisker, have you ever had a wheel bearing, hub assembly or axle replaced? Do you hear noise coming from the left front wheel when you drive?

    chavezone, does the ABS VSV TRAC ecu show up on Techstream? If so, are there any codes?

    hey there thank you so much for jumping in and telling me this that's what the dealer was trying to push up on me a new EC you for $3000 and I knew that wasn't it because my car was in perfect condition ! Until I took it to the shop that very day and have the windows tinted and all of a sudden everything happened and I found out the drain that 12v battery .. No I do not hear any noise coming out from my front right tire I I've never had any harbor anything that you mention assembly done on that car at all nothing

    I do have the VC I tool . Abs lights brake lights on red triangle that god awful screeching buzzer constantly comes on even after clearing codes No brakes

    What's funny before it kept coming up with the left front wheel sensor I had it replaced in the one I took off still look like it was in perfect condition ..
