I just get my water inverter pump changed yesterday and what I have noticed now every time I power off the car, I can hear water flow. I did not hear this kind of sound before.

Could you please advise what could be the problems with my car now?

Your comments will be very much appreciated.

    Regard,

Hi Sanlen, is it possible that what you are hearing is refrigerant gas in the air conditioner equalizing past the expansion valve after shutdown, this is normal... you could test by driving without AC next trip and see if the sound goes away....if it does, drive again with AC on, then shut down and listen under the cabin air filter for refrigerant sound...on some cars it DOES sound like running water.

Try to localize the source of the sound you are hearing. Use a helper, and stand in front of the engine bay with the hood up as the car is turned off.

The inverter coolant loop might not be properly purged of air. If so, you need to go back to the mechanic. Look at the inverter coolant reservoir, and make sure that it is full to the line. Add more coolant if it is low. It is possible that the air will eventually come out of the loop, if you keep adding coolant to the reservoir.

If it is the inverter fluid (very possible), I would not be surprised. Whenever I had the radiator fluid or inverter fluid changed on my Gen II, they ALWAYS failed to completely purge the air out of the system! You want to have them changed to decrease the likely hood of a failure, but having it done leads to more stress! WHY CAN'T A TOYOTA TECHNICIAN PURGE THE SYSTEM PROPERLY!?!?!?!

Not to go on ranting, but can't anyone in this country complete a job? What has happened to the majority of the populace? What ever happened to do it once, do it right? I experience this every day. I ordered a sub from Publix yesterday and the guy who made the sandwich hands it to me without pressing the sticker down. Half the sandwich falls on the floor... I order something from E-Bay and the guy emails me every day to tell me he is sorry, but he hasn't had the chance to ship it yet. I order a computer from Dell, and it blue screens on the first start! I couldn't get email for seven days and when I call they tell me that they are currently working on enhancing my email experience. Wth! The only thing I need is to send and receive, how could you possibly enhance it! If I don't reboot my DVR every two weeks, it stops working. I buy a new shirt, and three months later, there are little holes appearing. I have shirts from 10 years ago that don't do that. I bought new water shoes to wear at the beach and after one use, the soles fell apart. I get the recall done on my '13 Gen III and the dealer calls me four days later to say that they think it didn't take and I have to bring it back and have it done, again!

Everything seems to be, one step forward, three steps back. I give up...

I actually can hear this kind of sound even I power on the car (just noticed). Coolant level always went down but not much and I keep adding it.....however, I don't see any leakage.

Is this the sign of problems?

If the coolant level goes down with no leak, it is because air is escaping from the system. Keep adding coolant and the air will eventually all come out by itself. Look inside the coolant reservoir while the car is in Ready mode, and look for movement and small bubbles in the liquid. That will show that the pump is working.

Purging the air completely is what the mechanic should have done already.

Also check the coolant level in the engine radiator (not just in the overflow tank) which requires that the flat plastic piece at the front of the engine compartment be lifted.

Sounds like you are either a very picky person or you have really bad luck. :)

I know. I sound picky. It just seems that we, as a society, have come to accept sub-standard work and sub-standard items as the norm. Granted, Toyota makes a great product. That's why I am on my second Prius, and my wife has one, too! But, it is unacceptable, in my humble opinion, to bring your car to Toyota and not have air purged after a coolant or inverter fluid change. It's not like they haven't worked on a Prius before...

I do agree with you, I feel the same way sometimes. Unfortunately we've been training people that if they do shoddy work and you return, they will get rewarded by getting your business back again.

Rebuilt HV batteries for example, they depend on the constant failures of the battery to make money. There's a labor charge associated with replacing the "warrantied" battery. When it fails, they make more money from you. Unfortunately that's how many industries work nowadays, shoddy work has it's rewards.

Big thank to all for your comments and instructions. The sound is disappeared now after i kept adding coolant and level of the coolant is no longer going down.

Not picky really - and not unlucky either. He's right! This kind of "Charlie Romeo Alpha Papa" is proliferating this side of the pond too. Spot on what was said about the shirts. Ditto with people (workers) never finishing their work / tasks, and leaving others to pick up their "Sierra Hotel Indigo Tango".......

I work in IT Support, and I'm forever discovering half finished shoddy work that some other technician couldn't be bothered to do properly to begin with. Result? More problems created than solved. So many feckless foxtrotter's no longer take pride in what they do - they're genuinely not bothered! Peculiar and disturbing phenomenon indeed.
It's almost as if the entire planetary workforce can't be asked...!!!

I am glad, yet sorry, to hear that I am not the only one who sees what is going on in this world. I could only imagine how much more advanced the human race would be if people actually stopped to think about the task they were performing, and the consequences of not completing that task would be. However, it is exactly the lack of consequences that proliferates these actions. No one is held accountable anymore, and no one seems to care... I think it started many years ago when social etiquette deteriorated. Once it's gone, you can't get it back...

For example. I am at the grocery store, in the express lane (10 items or less), and the lady in front of me proceeds to place 34 items on the counter. As she unloads, she looks at me standing there with ONE item in my hand and says, "Sorry, I made a mistake and went in the wrong lane." My reply, "If you were sorry, you would've let me go first." She didn't...
