I'll pencil this one in my calendar and see what my schedule is like for that weekend.

I did an oil change, tire rotation & transaxle fluid change very recently. There is some wiring/stereo work I'd like to do, and/or possibly a brake fluid bleed, which I'm a bit hesitant about. I have Techstream on my laptop, which I can bring to the meetup. Does anyone have experience using techstream to bleed the brakes? I have a couple of guides, but haven't done it myself.

I am very fond of tech stream, what cable do you have? Does it lag? Before buying a $4k diagnostics tool (for the shop), I used it to bleed my Rx400h's brakes. Now with my professional tool, I can very safely, with out long waits and glitches, do almost anything to a car.

I have installed a full ground effects kit for my friend, its very simple.

Its very common, because the real one can cost upwards of a couple hundred dollars, but this get the job done.

I have the X-horse cable. It does not seem to lag, although it is not fast either. For example, it can take a couple of minutes to do a complete scan for DTC codes. I have nothing else to compare it to, so I'm not sure how much faster the "official" version & cable are. For the price (under $30), it seems good so far.

If it's cool, I'll bring my laptop (with techstream), some brake fluid, and tools. Or should I wait to do the brakes? My 2005 just turned over 73,000 miles (although my understanding is that brake fluid is affected more by age than mileage).

Fwiw, Lexus requires it every 3 years or 30k on the ct200h, so...

You're welcomed to bring your laptop and cable, I have one as well, I'm a Mac guy so I think most of my lag was due to running parallels. I had one of my friends, who works Fremont Toyota, bring over their Techstream panasonic computer, It was almost immediate running commands and the little box which shows the latency time was under 100ms. My snapon guy told me that Snapon is the one who makes and distributes the tech stream brand (uncertain of the validity of that claim), but they are only allowed to sell it to manufacturing dealers. Yeah, brake fluid maintenance is very similar to engine oil, like the critic, mentioned every 3 years or 30k according to the manual. Although we should abide by the manual, Toyota highlander HV has 80% interchangeable parts with the Rx400h because they have the same chassis and what not, what I don't understand is why highlander's and prius's maintenance schedule doesn't even mention the words "brake fluid" and the Ct, Rxh, Esh, Gsh, and the Lsh says to replace it every 3 years or 30k miles.
