How do you work your Navigation?

    I think it helps with production and inventory. If they can mass produce less versions you have a better chance of getting the one you want.

    Just picked up our car Thu, but my understanding is that traffic alert and re-route (NavTraffic) are part of the XM/Sirius package and will cost extra after the 36-month trial period is over (pg 17 in the online Nav manual), along with NavWeather, Sports, Stocks and Fuel.

    I find entering addresses to be slow because it's constantly searching as you type to offer suggested matches. I'm used to my Garmin, so I'm going to have to learn to slow down. :) And, you always need to double-check the State before you begin and then let it respond before pressing a bunch of keys. It took some time for me to get used to my newer Garmin because data entry was just different enough, so there will be a learning curve with the Prius too. I've use Voice with the phone, but haven't tried it with Nav yet. However, it also needs to be done slowly and it seems like I'll have to pay quite a bit of attention to the screen to see if it understood me, etc. I thought the whole point to Voice was to not have to take my eyes off the screen? Maybe that won't be the case once I get used to it. :)

    Off topic, but have to admit, when we ordered our 2013 Dodge Dart from the factory, it was so nice to be able to actually order, what you want, ("Customize it your way", as they say in the adds), and not have to order some package deal, where you got so much of what you did not want. Of coarse, it was a made (mostly) in USA car, (from lots of foreign parts), so they could put it together, as you wanted it. We had the "Rallye" trim line, but could have added every option available to the fully loaded "limited" trim line, if we wanted to.

    Except for the 14 visits to the Dodge service dept., in 15 months time, & getting 22-26 MPG average out of a 1.4L turbo, (with a stated 39mpg potential), the Dart was one fun car to own. Until I lemon lawed it out, to buy our Prius!

    Does this Dodge Dart belong to you? Looks like a new one. That goes back to my younger days. My dad had a DeSoto with push-button shifting. It worked real good.

    Here is our "other car" on Route 66. 1969 Buick Skylark Custom Convertible. Just had it in the Pismo Beach car show recently too!
    Now we are way off topic...;)
    I liked the photo of the Good Ole Dart, fer sure!

    Your Buick is super nice. I'm an old guy. I had a 1964 Buick Electra 225 that I bought new. Sticker price $4800.00. I just bought a new Avalon Hybrid Touring. Sticker price $38,000.00. Solid proof that THERE IS INFLATION.

    sounds like U have a different system from DoubleDAZ, U currently have the premium HDD Nav and DoubleDAZ has the display audio with navi. Display Audio with Navi needs a Phone to get traffic thru Inrix.
    XM traffic iirc is from Nokia Here, so not really a difference from Garmin.

    So are you saying the 2014 Toy Nav does have the traffic alert / re-route feature in it???
    Yes to the question in Bold.

    Too bad we are in US market, if u were to buy a Tesla I think U can customize cause U paying alot more than the prius.

    or if U move to japan, I recall u can customize to greater detail but issue is U have to wait a few months to get your car. It would not be sitting at the lot even if U are willing to pay double the amount.

    The built-in nav is easier to use for simple things. It gently mutes the audio system to give driving directions. The Garmin is harder to hear with that tiny speaker.

    That is problem 1 i have.... does not mute or come through loud. Cant hear it over the radio....

    Can I assume you've pressed on the speaker in the lower left corner of the display and increased the volume? Mine was set to the lowest setting until I increased it.

    To clarify my earlier post, AFAIK the Prius offers 4 audio configurations:
    1. Standard radio w/6.1 display, 6 speakers USB, Bluetooth.
    2. Adds backup camera, satellite, Navigation, Entune Suite and voice recognition.
    3. Adds 8 JBL GreenEdge speaker system.
    4. Adds 7" HDD display, XM NavTraffic, weather, etc., for 36 months.

    Entune Suite includes traffic, etc., through phone service plan.

    Option 1 is standard on Two.
    Option 2 is standard on Three.
    Option 3 is standard on Four and is what I have.
    Option 4 is optional on Four and standard on Five.

    I believe that means Traffic Alert and Re-Route are available, either through your phone plan or through XM (free for 36 months, for a fee after that). I have no idea how much data it would use or how much it costs to add it to XM after the 36 months.

    Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
