There has been a lot of debate on this forum about exactly what "B" does on the PiP. It seems to depend on whether or not you are in EV or HV mode, how fast you are going, and whether or not the battery is full. Sometimes it just engages more aggressive regeneration when your foot is off the throttle than in "D" mode, equivalent to lightly pressing the brake pedal. Sometimes in engages engine compression braking to dissipate energy. I'll leave it to the "experts" to provide more details.

The Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) will keep you at one of three safe distances behind the vehicle ahead (note it's not great with lane-splitting donorcycles), and works down to 24 mph. At that point, if traffic in front slows below that, it disengages with two beeps and if imminent collision is still about to occur, the pre-collision system kicks in but as others have mentioned that does NOT stop the car, just pre-applies the brakes and expects human intervention will stomp the pedal to bring the car to a stop.

I had this on my '11 and it has become a mandatory feature on any subsequent car I buy, which is why I have the '14 PiP with the Tech package. You won't regret it. What the PiP doesn't have that the regular Prii have at the top trim level is "Lane Keep Assist." While it is kind of a PIA in that it alarms incessantly, it can assist in avoiding inadvertent drifting over the lanes. I miss it in the '14 (had in the '11), but not enough to even think of going back to a non-PiP.

 

Toyota won't be working with Google in the near future. Apple has Toyota in their pocket.

These are the same thoughts I had before I bought my 14 PIP... I went ahead and got mine in May 2014. Just get what you want and not worry about too much... Beside, do you want the headache of owning the 1st year of a new model?

Get the 14 PIP and if the new Prius or what ever that come out later on, get it in a few years...

If you haven't set the timer for start or end times, the light on the charger handle should go on and stay on when you plug it in to the car. If the timer is activated via the switch on the dash, the light comes on for just a few seconds when first plugged into the car. You should also have a light showing on the unit plugged into the wall outlet. Re the dog problem, there are canvas seat covers available. There may be other materials available as well, so check them out online. My dog is small, so I just keep a stadium blanket on the back seat for him. It's easy to remove for people type passengers. A light on the charger handle? Never seen this. I do have a light on the car next to where you plug in.
This is on when charging and goes off when the charge is complete.
If the timer is set, it goes on for about 6-8 seconds when you plug in, then goes off until the charge starts.

Oops, my bad! You are absolutely right, it is next to the plug receiver. Shows how accustomed I have become to the routine of hitting the timer button and plugging in.

 

I'm sure there will be some great incentives on the last of the 2015 Gen IIIs, once the Gen IVs come out at the end of the year.
