    Hi all,
I have a 2008, and am located in Australia. My car has a 12V socket in the centre console, but no auxilliary jack. Has anyone else got this problem? Thanks, David

I got the dice iPod/aux input integration kit

Kinda pricey but it was well worth it, integrates perfectly, you can still use the steering wheel controls, and the song.artist comes up on the display if using the iPod. I sold my 2004 prius but kept the kit, I'll sell it to you for $55 shipped if you want it.

Thanks for the offer, Drew. I'm currently looking into something that will assist with using my phone as well, but I'll keep it in mind in case I don't go through with it.
    Regards,
    David

I had the same problem - also with an Australian Gen II. I listen to lots of podcasts, and I was burning CDs to do that, which was messy and wasteful. I wanted Bluetooth too.

I got a new Pioneer head unit from Ryda in Sydney - I think they have branches in Brisbane, but not in Ipswich. It's a standard DIN D shape (like the olden days standard car radios), but Ryda has a plate that slots in to cover the gap. I'll take a picture when I'm in the car later today. I had been hoping to get a Double-DIN one (twice the side of an old-school radio) with an integrated reversing camera and satnav, but they don't fit, apparently.

The head unit I've got gives me DAB, which is great - I can listen to the World Service on SBS 4, and I can listen to Triple J Unearthed, and be disappointed by Double J. It's got two USB inputs and an SD card slot, as well as an auxiliary jack and a CD slot that takes DVDs with mp3s on them. And it's got bluetooth, both for phone and streaming audio. It's made a massive difference to me: it's great having clear hands-free phoning, and it's lovely being able to switch between my music, my audiobooks, my podcasts, and the radio.

The downside is it doesn't look original, because it's not. And the new head unit is not integrated into the Multimedia Interface Screen, so I can't use the touchscreen to change channels or anything. The touchscreen still works for my aircon and consumption and whatever.

I would have liked to be able to install an aux and USB socket with the old stereo, but that was difficult and expensive, and wouldn't give me DAB or Bluetooth.

Drew, Can you verify that this will dice iPod/aux input integration kit work with my 5th gen ipod touch in my 2004 Prius?

Drew, After looking at what this install involves, I will have to pass on this kit. John
