There is a T-SB, T-SB-0067-08 that solved the problem on my 2007 and was free. See your dealer. Noise from Auxiliary PortSome customers may notice noise in the auxiliary mode of their audio system when using an MP3 player or other external audio source connected to the 12V power port of the vehicle. An improved auxiliary port and in-line filter has been developed to improve this condition.

Hmm. Well, a quick glance seems to indicate that the service bulletins possibly aren't covered if out of warranty.. and it's waaay out of warranty :) i suppose if I need to use it again, I'll grab a ground loop isolator. Maybe RadioShack still sells them (ha, right)

If your using the aux input on the Prius sound system it automatically mutes any sound input when either the phone is in use or the satnav is giving instructions.

I used this one with my Gen 2 Prius -- PAC 3.5mm Ground Loop Isolator (edit: Amazon link removed - apparently doesn't work in the forum anymore?)
I also had great luck with the Kinivo BTC450 - also from Amazon. I mounted the microphone/button on the center console above my right knee.

    Hope this helps.

I know this is a very old thread but I'm interested in buying one of these kinivo units? Will it cause any problems if you leave it in the 12v and aux input all the time? Even with the car off? Like battery drainage? I own a 2006 prius.

    Thank you.

Mine was always plugged in and didn't have any 12V battery issues. IIRC the center console power port cycled with the car. It was handy because all the wiring was hidden in the center console except what was run for the microphone, which I just sticky tape mounted near the top-front corner on the side of the console.
