I was selling it here until I did a bit of damage and now I need to re-evaluate.

It's a 2014 Blizzard Pearl base PiP with 9500 miles (2500 are EV). It is in excellent condition minus the damage I just did. I was backing out of my driveway and it's a curved driveway. I went over a curb and the front right end is missing paint and is all scratched along the bottom. It is visible from the front too. It's pretty long and missing the paint all the way down to the plastic. I really am annoyed that this happened!

If you were selling as-is, what price would you list?

This is just the plastic bumper involved? No big deal, not what you'd define as a collision. Maybe get a paint shop to fix it first, just to avoid turning off buyers?

Somewhere in the $24K range would be my guess. That factors in the incentives and tax credits, and the depreciation due to mileage. The damage sounds relatively minor, but deduct whatever that's going to cost.

Looks very minor. My '11 I traded in had some similar scuffing, the result of a parking lot planter that impinged the parking spot. It didn't affect trade-in value.

The damage is minor, and almost expected on a car that is a few years old. On a car that is almost new, it might be a different story depending on the buyer. If you didn't do it, someone else would have shortly in the future.

I know you told me to bugger off in your for sale thread, but a more reasonable price point would sell the car quickly.

So what's a reasonable price point in your opinion?

In my other thread you said $22k without any damage is outrageously high.

With the damage shown in the pic, I'd be inclined to just use the touch up pen. Just use the color end, don't follow up the clear coat end. In my experience the clear coat lifted the previous color coat, made a mess.

Yeah that's very minor, and inconspicuous location too.

I forgot to ask: does it have an HOV sticker? If not, my previous $24K estimate might need to be reduced by $1K-$2K.

I would have the car repaired before trying to sell it.

not many getting rid of newer Plug-ins so hard to get a good handle on fair but I'll share that I traded mine getting $22k
2013 base PiP 16 mos old, great shape, think it was about 14,000 miles.
Dealer balked but I point out it was 90% EV so engine hardly used and they relented.

I listed it for sale on a website and thought I found a buyer but we hit a bad snag. Let's say the agreed upon price is 20k. I had mentioned I just purchased the car in January. So we agreed on 20k and then he said, "Since you just purchased in January you haven't claimed the tax credit yet so I'll be able to!" I told him that I am pretty sure only the original buyer can claim the tax credit and even if there was a way to let him claim the tax credit then I would sell it for $2500 more. So now he says I either "give him the credit" or he will only pay me $17.5k. No way I am selling a 8 month old PiP for 17.5k.

This is a very interesting post.. Its hard to value something when so few hit the market. Keep in mind other states do not offer the incentives like CA, so prices out of state will be $5k-7k higher. Just curious, have you asked what a dealer would give you? Seem rational to price it as a standard prius plus a $2k premium. If someone wants all the rebates etc they should buy new

I haven't asked any dealers yet. I've always kind of assumed the dealers would give me way less than I'd consider but who knows. Then add in the damage and they are going to probably tell me that it's worth 15k or something. If I could find a dealer to give me a decent price I'd do it.

Just checked this weekend and 3 mos later they still haven't been able to sell it with an asking price of 23k

But if I'm not getting a new vehicle I'd think they wouldn't want to do business

I would try posting on CL and any other websites in AZ. Its tough to find a PIP here, no state incentives and you can use the HOV lane... Last I checked dealer was at $31k new and no rebates! I would have bought the car from you last month. Can you tell me what your asking and I will see if I can find you a buyer? The HOV plate is like gold here, and they are only giving out 800 more... Total of 10k.

Actually I was trying to buy one from Dianne and she ran out, I found that Maryland had (still does if you can find one) 4k customer cash + 0%. No state incentive, but toyota incentives are def. outside of CA.
