Dealerships still LOVE those hwy no's. The Malibu city rating is 9 point something, not so good. See one model at least has start-stop.

Well done! Still haven't hit that 1,000km mark :( (955km is the closest but that got wiped out with that inverter TSB update).

Tidelands, do you mean update reduced your fuel economy, or it just reset your trip meter?

Oh, reset. My "Best" in the Past Record screen now displays something else other than the 4.0L/100km (950km) (cause my 955km had an average of 4.1L/100km so it didn't register). I'll wait til next summer before wiping the "Best" number and then trying again for a record :)

I use the car's tripmeters for reference only. Like to gauge how I'm doing for the current tank. For a couple of reasons. First, it's just not bullet-proof: an inadvertent button push and there goes your record. Secondly, it's not accurate, intentially rosy. I do use it for feedback though. For tracking mileage I just record the odometer, at each fillup. Regardless of what you have displayed, it shows when you shut the car down, for about 30 seconds. And I find if I mutter it to myself, it's branded in short term memory, at least for duration of tanking up and getting the receipt to jot it down.

Hmmm.... not that cold around here yet, but so far on a tank from Superstore I am seeing 4.2-4.4, on my Nokian WR3G's.
I tend to buy the cheapest gas around in the belief that there is not much difference. the tankers that supply Superstore around here seem to make deliveries to Esso and I sometimes see the same vehicles in front of the local Shell.

It shouldn't since Shell and Esso are Top-Tier certified but Superstore/Loblaws isn't. Technically, there should be a difference in the fuel composition between the supermarket brand and others.

Here's a current local chevy ad, methinks they're up to their usual tricks, stretching the limits of credulity:

Here's the Canadian government's offial rating for the Cruze. There's ONE Cruze , the diesel model, rated at 4.2, under the OLD rating system:

Perhaps that highway mileage figure was obtained by following closely behind a semi from the summit of the Great Divide to the coast.

    You never know.

^^ The new ratings combined city + highway is close to 7 L/100km for the diesel.
Sounds like a Prius killer ;)

I think the ad has crossed the line: it shows a "Cruze LT Automatic", doesn't sound much like a diesel. Then down below: 4.2 liter/100 km. No asterisk, no fine print.

    It's an "ex parrot"....

Is it typical for terms to be quoted bi-weekly ?

There are entire scam industries centered around people's tendency to equate one month and four weeks.

Technically it's not wrong since it's for a 2014 Cruze, not the 2015.

Well, the only Cruze mentioned in the ad is not the diesel, the one with the miraculous 4.2 hwy number.

That sums up the GM approach to advertising quite nicely

So right now, Toyota Canada is saying on their website the hwy mileage for a Prius is 4.6 (liters/100km), but I could have got a Cruze LT Automatic that get's 4.2..., what was I thinking getting a Prius!
