My 2012 also will roll back a few inches and then stops, I have never engaged the hill assist, and have no issue pulling forward. So it sounds like a computer update on the newer models possibly?

I had a Subaru which had hill assist and once engaged it was very hard for it to pull forward until it releases, it may just be the way they are designed to operate. Good Luck to you!

So I stopped on the normal slight incline today as I do everyday.

I came to a stop and then pressed the brake all the way to floor and nothing.
No beep, no lights, no assist?
I did roll back a bit though. hmm.

I will have to check the manual, as I do believe the 2012 manual mentioned that is how to engage the hill assist,
I just never had to use it.

And I think it has to be a bit more than a "slight incline".
I haven't been able to make mine "take" most of the time I've tried and only had it work on what I consider a substantial incline.

personally i prefer it does NOT beep and i do NOT want the darn blinking lights,,, maybe itz just grabby brakes from too much rust on the calipers. but as long as it goes when i press the gas, we're good.

I usually get mine to set when I'm at the ATM... I am short and need leverage, so when I'm using the brake pedal for height it sets. Flat ground, no hills. I press the accelerator and it disengages. No problems. 2012.
