Thanks, guys. I really appreciate that you didn't just jump on the "you are crazy" bandwagon! It turns out that I had the opportunity to trade it in on a blue one, which is great. So, I now have a blue 2011 model. Our white one was covered with bugs for at least half of the year and the blue one won't show them nearly as badly as the white did. I got the tires rebalanced........again, and it improved quite a bit and was still feeling pretty good even after a few of days of driving (several hundred miles total) before we traded it in. I test drove this new to me 2011 and it felt very similar to mine, without the excessive out of balance bumpiness . It was rougher than I remembered mine being Pre-Goodyear. So, I then test drove a brand spanking new one and it felt the same as the 2011. So, I was wrong about it being that much rougher than before. And I am not too proud to admit that I was wrong about that :) I was not wrong, however, about the front tires being out of balance every time, four times over the course of two months! The crazy thing is that the mileage went back up to about 47 which was my regular average Pre-Goodyear. It did this the last day and a half, kind of like it knew I was mad about the huge loss in mpg and was going to get rid of it :) I suspect the dealer will remove the shims and fix the cracked bumper that came from hitting a parking thing (not even that hard of a hit!). So, I feel good about the car getting fixed up a bit and going to someone else after being fixed up. We did not have the money to fix the bumper since I had already had to pay my large deductible for when I hit a dog less than one month after buying it! So, I think it will all turn out good in the end and I don't have to go through the trouble of trying to figure out what is wrong with it. Toyota will take care of that now. This new one has Yokohama tires like we have had, but they are filled with nitrogen which is new for us. Thanks again for all of the help, everyone! I will consider the other recommended tires next time we need new ones, which will hopefully be a long time and I have no plans for shims again!!

Just wondering where those shims were placed..., guessing behind the rear bearing assemblies, to "correct" rear camber?
