Yeah, I'm noticing how many different combinations there really are. As long as it has bluetooth and cloth seats I'm happy. Ideally I'd like to also have the rear view camera and the voice commands, but I guess I could live without. I drove my first Prius today and found it to be quite the nice drive, unfortunately the car itself wasn't it.

Eventually every car will have bluetooth and a backup camera. It'll be like asking for a radio & air conditioning.

Yeah, you can live without but there's no reason not to as they are readily available.

The only way to get cloth seats is with a Two or a Three. The camera is part of the NAV package which will only be on a Three. TrueCar lists 196 from $12500 to $22000. On the plus side, it'll be easy to spot from one look at the interior.

G2 with backup camera and SKS key is package 2. Pack 1 is no key no camera.
Have to put the fob in a slot in the dash to start the car. Smart key you never take the key
Out of pocket. And to lock the car u just push a button on the door of u don't feel like using the key In your pocket. Which is really nice for mama as she can leave key in purse.

Whatever u do don't buy a Prius without smart key. Its the best thing. A non SKS car has poor Resale.

Thanks for the tip on the features. And yes, I've noticed how easy it is. I automatically go to pictures of the steering wheel and radio. And yes the SKS is also on the list, I assumed they all had it because all the ones I saw looked like they did, but I'll make sure they do.

I keep seeing some Prii listed as Prius II, but having the navigation, backup cam, bluetooth, and it seems like the voice commands too. Are all these IIIs being advertised as IIs?

2010 and up is Gen 3, II (later renamed "Two") is the package.

In not sure if the package numbers are the same
    From g2 to g3.

BTW, we have seen a few posters who bought a Prius thinking it had this or that option and found out later it did not. Silly but we get them here.
So be informed and make sure it has what u desire.

You know what gen it is by the year so if you see this:
    2010 II that's a pack 2.

Oh yes, it's just that I've seen many listen as having a certain package, but seeming to be wrong. Like a 2010 Prius IV with no navigation or back-up cam, just bluetooth.

I wouldn't trust a used dealer to know if it was truly a II vs a IV vs a whatever. Some used dealers are just ignorant, others are downright trying to mislead you. When in doubt look it up with the VIN.

That's what I am saying. Sometimes the guy doesn't even know what package it is especially a used car lot. They promise the world to get u to come in. So you need to be able to disregard what the ad says and know what it really has.

I hate car buying. Its difficult.

    Google the list.

There's a listing for a perfect condition, all services done 2008 in CA, with all the bells and whistles. Only 100k miles for $8300. If only I were in the market, I would snatch this up.

    That's not bad.
Before u buy search its VIN on Toyota.com/owners
And it will list everything that any Toyota dealer
    Has done to the car.

Seen a few where posters bought a used car and found later it had a bad hybrid battery. Then went to that site to see it was just at a dealer who says needs a battery
And customer declines. Gets traded in on the spot
Goes to auction and used car dealer snaps it up and on the lot it goes.

    Yahtzee!!!!

Even with a one way plane ticket, and gas, hotel, and food on the way back, that's still one heck of a deal.

This car has had every service at the dealer since day 1. At 90k all the services recommended at 120k were done too. I can't believe how well maintained this car has been. I'm so tempted to buy this and sell mine......I must resist.....resist.......

That listing isn't necessarily wrong. The Gen3 (starting in MY2010) was defeatured. The backup camera was included in the NAV package. The NAV package is also bundled in the Solar & AT packages.

A Prius V can be configured three ways: Base, NAV, or AT.
A Prius IV can be configured three ways: Base with leather, with the NAV package, or with the SOLAR package.
A Prius III can be Base, NAV, or SOLAR.
A Prius II can't have an option package.

GEN3 has driver door only SKS standard. If you want 3 door SKS (the front doors & hatch) you'll have to move up to top of the line.

The link shows a III-NAV because it has cloth seats. Floor mats (including one for the deck) are an accessory so the car may or may not have them. The tonneau cover is standard and we can see that this car has one. If you don't see it look under the deck. Two fobs are standard.

MY2010 also has three states of production. Early production does not have a USB port in the center armrest at the back. Middle production has the USB port but doesn't have the Safety Connect button on the roof by the rear view mirror (~Summer 2009). Late production includes SC (~Oct./Nov. 2009).

As long as 2009s were on the lot they were a good value because you'd have to trade up to get all the features in a 2010. Both generations are great cars so as long as the vehicle has all the expected gizmos you can't go wrong choosing either one.

Use this site to figure out the package options for the year Prius you are interested in. Availabe as PDF files, so download all for reference.

    Yeah, tempting.

How were you able to see the features/options? Is this through the Toyota Owners site on Toyota?
