This adapter would make mounting the widely available and inexpensive JDM 5 speed leather shift knob to the Prius"C."

    Enjoy!

very nice! I just saw a "similar" version on ebay, but dont you think the price is kinda high for just the adapter? It would be a great price if the seller included the actual knob too for that price.

I never did compare it. I guess you are correct. Thanks to that "seller" for the great product! He has really helped the Prii community.

Even with my 40 plus years of machining experience and $30,000 plus in machine tools, it took me three weeks of trial and error to get the technique right to make these.

I am a retired hobbyist. Just look at Toyota dealers charging $80-$90 an hour for labor, and you'd see how inexpensive it is.

If you just look at car restoration shows on cable TV, restoring a car takes $20,000 plus easily.

What the heck, I purchased this less than $8 delivered supposedly leather covered TRD shift knob off of eBay expecting it to be a piece of junk.

5sp Manual Black Stitch Leather Shifter Shift Knob TRD Fit Toyota Lexus Scion | eBay

    Delivery took three weeks.

My, how was I pleasantly surprised.

The leather covering is the best part and rivals the quality of genuine TRD shift knobs that I have examined.

The covering is well made and stitched of real black leather. It is stitched like the covering of the baseball.

I thought and thought of how they got the covering so well fitted onto the plastic inside structure. Apparently, the urethane core is molded into the completed covering when wet with a split two piece outer mold.

Before the urethane hardens, a "plug" "greased" with a mold release agent is rammed into the opening of the leather "pouch" opening to shape the cavity for the shift lever.

The logos, although NOT properly placed, are high quality printed on an aluminum back with raised vinyl clear lenses. It is hard to tell that they were not official Toyota.

The knob has an amazingly good and nice comfortable ergonomic grip to it.

These are also available on Amazon, at higher cost.

Yes, I have developed and made an adapter to put this knob on a Prius"c" or any other Toyota with an automatic transmission.

Sure, it can be adapted to the Gen III Prius. I believe that the leather has a coating that feels near exactly like Toyota "Softex." It might not be top grain leather, but it is leather.

A little large for the Gen III, but this is how it would look.

This one with the genuine Toyota TRD shift knob looks better. I believe that SFPrankster has one mounted, too.

In actually viewing it "in person", it's NOT very visible.

It's not really fake-leather if it's made out of genuine rat-skin.

In the vernacular of Teddy Roosevelt, "Oh Can Na Dah, inn deed!"

Actually, the leather is too thick to be rat-skin.

Furthermore, I wonder how you know it to be rat-skin.
