2011 vs 2004

    Just got my 2011 Prius today. Super clean with only 32k miles. Passed Toyota inspection with flying colors. Getting about 47 mpg in the city so far!Getting about 47 mpg in the city so far! Now I have to sell my 2004 (on left). Last 2 pics show the carpet liner I made to cover the cargo area. About $18 at Home Depot.

    Liner was necessary to keep things clean when I transport my Mountain Unicycles!

    I really like the silver Prius!!

    Your skills are amazing on the Unicycle….. but I have to ask, Is it any fun or are you so concentrating on not eating dirt that it makes it nerve racking? Im an avid Mt biker…. Inquiring?

    Sure can. As a matter of fact, I was the first person on the 35+ year history of the "Fargo Hill climb challege" to make it to the top on a unicycle. At a whopping 33% grade, Fargo st. is one of the steepest streets in the world. I've climbed it more than a dozen times, and the most recent we did an aerial shoot of the climb:


    It's a BLAST! I've been riding since turning 50 back in '06. I ride 6-7 days a week and ride mostly mountain unicycling, but also street climbing and long distance. I recently did 150 miles in a day, as I train for my upcoming 24 hour ride where I will be attempting to go 200 miles!

    I think I should probably also cut some extra carpet to cover the sides, especially the bulging wheel wells!

    Congrats, and have fun with those!

    I acquired my '11 Two last Fall to transport whole bicycles. The Prius turns out to have a non-obvious advantage in that capacity: The bottom-side pedal of a bike can tuck neatly into the gap between the battery and rear seat, allowing the bike to rest flatter and lower down on the floor than would otherwise be possible. (You have to remove one of the trim bits than normally covers that gap, and slightly rearrange the other piece.) I'm not sure whether that trick would be relevant or useful for hauling unicycles.

    It looks as though you needed that extra carpet liner to protect the paint on top of the bumper? Mine has a heavy grayish plastic protective cover there. I didn't realize it wasn't standard.
