I have a Prius two 2011. Here is something to amaze your friends. Walk away from your Prius two about 50 yards and while pointing at the car press the red panic button and it should start to sound off. Then walk far enough away so the key doesn't activate the panic feature because it is out of range. Instead of pointing at the car point the fob at your brain and press the panic button. It should start to sound off. Press again at your brain and it should be quiet. It has something to do with the water that your brain is immersed in!

Many use that “trick” to get key working for farther away. If you want to do it discreetly just press key to your leg.

Maybe so Valdes3 and Bisco, but you must press the panic button to turn it on or off. For a reason that most people don't understand liquid enhances the strength of the signal more than air does.

May be so, but you might short circuit your device.

I first found out the potential liquid has from a British bomb expert on the Internet. He showed a target without water in front of it and a target with water in front of it. The target was damaged far greater that had water in front of it. The only advantage the target had was the water in front of it.

I only really meant for locking and unlocking. It’s useful if you have already walked away and can’t remember if you lock it or not. And we don’t even have panic button on key at all.

Valde3 on the 2011 Prius 2 that I have there is a red button called panic. Its purpose is if you see someone tampering with your car you press the panic button and the horn and lights are activated. I don't use it to catch a car thief. I use it to test how far away it still works. This tells me roughly how the batteries are.

That is an excellent idea. Many times I forget where my car is at the shopping mall. You do that when you are eighty one. I usually am so embarrassed that while searching I make believe I'm just enjoying a walk.

For some reason, placing the fob under your chin increases it's range. An installer showed me that trick years ago.

About 4 years ago, I was doing some environmental assessment work in a remote forested area on a native reserve in the pouring rain. I knew the technician I was working with was probably standing in the rain outside my locked truck, waiting for me to return, so as I walked back, I pushed the start-button on my remote periodically, just to see if if beeped back (indicating that the doors were unlocked).

Surprisingly, about 2 km away, it beeped. I assumed that she would know that the truck was now unlocked, and it was warm and dry inside, but she was still standing there in the rain when I arrived.

Liquid appears to enhance the transmission better than air.

There was also a pipeline nearby. I think it's probably something like the "rogue-wave phenomenon" where wave-harmonics can occasionally combine to create a much larger amplitude than normal, but that's just a guess. However, the fob under the chin is the real-deal. It probably has something to do with the brain and spinal column as an antenna, but again, just a guess.

You (water in you) being a conductor will create antenna that’s a lot bigger than antenna in the key.

I do know what panic button is I just don’t know any use for it. You could just use normal lock or unlock for that also.

The panic button is on your key less device assuming yours is the same as mine. I have a 2011 Prius 2. The purpose of the red panic button is to activate your horn and lights.when you see a thief tampering with your car. The idea is to scare him away. I don't use it to scare him away. I use it to roughly test the batteries by seeing how far away I can get and it still will activate the horn and lights. The panic button can only do the above. It can't start the car or open it. Another post tells me to use it when I forgot where I parked my car.

I don’t have it. http://services.netwheels.fi/NWAutokuvat/15786667/XEI612_7.jpg here is picture of same kind of key that I have. You could test the distance with lock or unlock button as well.
