So I experimented today. was blaming my cheap tires and the software update on my low mpg.

Well, it was actually my driving. Instead of flying on the fast lane with the flow of traffic at 65 mph (or higher), I took my lead foot off the accelerator and stayed on the slow lane and kept it steady at 65 mph.

Temperature outside was at 61 degrees, I had the temp set at 66 degrees at 3 bars, stayed at the speed limit, used the high mpg gliding and accelerating at hill techniques and voila! My mpg went from my low 38-40 mpg to 48 mpg. Awesome!

Edit: Since this is the mod section I also included my cheap tires setup until I have to replace all 4. Currently the the two toyo proxes I have on the car has about 31,500 miles.

I typically travel 30 miles round trip.

^ I really didn't buy this car to get 50 MPG (although that would be nice), I bought it because it was really affordable but thats beside the point, I haven't gotten over 40 MPG when driven stock. I have to admit I travel 70-75 MPH on my commute but it's all consistant. Once I change the oil, do an alignment, maybe change spark plugs, cover lower grill, and whatever else you guys recommend I can hopefully report better news. Like I mentioned, when I slammed it, it was returning 2 MPG better??? But thanks for the kind words, I only copied what some other people did on here lol! Gotta love the forums, and more pics will be coming soon!

Slowpriusj, 70-75mph is not helping at all. FYI. Try 60mph on cc and report back.

55 if you can is even better.

Xterra72, see slowing down does work ;)

Now try 55-60 and be amazed. Lol.

^^^^ this should bump up your mpg at least a few for starters.

    :)

55-60 on our 280 freeway? wish I could do that but bay area traffic especially on this freeway is suicide.:D

    Maybe on an expressway. Hehe:D

I drive 55 on I95 in an around Philthadelphia w/o issue....mind you we won the prestigious award of the countries worst drivers last yr. lol.

55 is Unless I'm on my FZ-1 which can do 80 in first gear. Lol. Then all bets are off.

The folks blowing by me going 90 are just gonna get stuck in the next set of gridlock a couple mins before me :)

They call the I76 the worlds largest parking lot for good reason. HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

70-75 mph will definitely get you below 40mpg. My commute is 100 miles round trip. I was averaging about 38 mpg until today when I went on the slow lane and drove at the 65mph limit. My mpg went back up at 48 mpg. Huge difference. Only problem is, it took me longer to get to work. I guess it's better than getting a speeding ticket.:D

Xterra72, time your drive at that different speed, my bet is you only lose 10 mins or so. :)

Here is my commute into work today in my Persona. Temp was mid 30's and dropping fast, I only used front defroster for a couple mins when I first left my house then I shut it off for the rest of the drive. 55mph as long as I could on the highway then I hit heavy traffic. I am quite happy with these numbers. :) See what 55 mph can result in.

I may need some spacers in the rear and then it will be flush but front is perfect!

Yesterday, I needed a tow to the dealer.

"Check Hybrid System" showed up on the DIC. Dramatic loss in power then it went out of ready.

Today the dealer said there was an issue with the inverter pump so they reset the codes & drove 60 miles with no problem
