Yeah. Close. I use to have a Nissan Xterra 2000. I had it for 12 1/2 years until my long commute took a toll on my wallet. I was only getting 12 mpg on my beloved truck so I had to sell it. It had over 200k on it. Hence the $7 savings in gas. that's how I justified my purchase. It all works out. My weekly fill ups on my truck amounts to my monthly payments on my prius. I break even. But I guess I get a new car and a new car to mod.(y)

Funny you mentioned that. I've had the car for almost 2 years and I have only used power mode this week. Very addicting. Trying to stay away from it.:D

Well that makes sense then :)

Good stuff and yeah I know the feeling, traded in a slightly modified HEMI Charger R/T for my Persona.

Was getting 15-17mpg. $70 of gas a week really hurts the wallet...

<$25 every 2 weeks now. I love it.

I'd hate to prematurely burn out my tires hence I stay away from the legend known as PWR mode!!

Plus I'm not sure if I could handle the tq steer associated with it.

    ;)

Kidding aside, I always use ECO, but yeah PWR mode does make the car feel totally different and does give the sense of a lot more power but I find it too touchy to p&g so I stick to eco.

I'm hooked on maximizing my mpg. Very difficult controlling this lead foot.:D

But I did have good results today at 50-60 mph (Traffic was light).(y)

Xterra72, hope you don't mind me posting the below info in your thread but I found this interesting...

Here is a comparison of my commute in my Persona just to show how a 20 degree drop really affects MPG. Tires set to 44/42.

First 3 pics are heading in at 6pm, temp is mid 30's, cc @ 55mph, heavy traffic for last few miles. Heater set to windshield defrost for a few mins then shut off totally for remainder of commute.

last 3 pics are returning at 4am. No traffic, a bitter 12 degrees outside (so approx 20 degree drop), 55 mph on cc, an a <10 min warm up with heater set to auto at 67 while I got changed after work then I set it to 70 (face/feet) at 1 bar fan speed, so very low draw.

This is great info. Thanks for helping me out. It's a totally different perspective when I am driving at these slower speeds. I am actually less stressed out and enjoying my drive alot more. That's alot to say especially in Bay Area traffic. Good stuff.:D

Definitely takes a hit with the cold weather. I am spoiled because the weather this week has been warm.

When it gets colder, I'm sure my readings will drop quite a bit. At least now, I can get in the habit of maximizing my mpg as best I can.

That's awesome. Yup slow and steady wins the race. Lol.

Plus Sirius radio helps me prep for work mentally and unwind afterwards, it's a godsend :)

Ain't it crazy though, 30% loss due to 20 degree drop in temperature. Granted I let it idle for a few mins but can ya blame me it was frickin 12 degrees out for crying out loud, and that idling prob only cost me 1 mpg or 2 max I would think...

That is crazy. I can't handle the cold weather. I guess that's why I still live here and just deal with the high cost of living.

At least I am saving on gas. hehe.:)

My wife's from SoCal, so she hates it too. Lol.

This cold front is an anomaly though as they are saying a low of -25 with windchill on sat which is pretty much unheard of and is a 20 yr low...

    Yeah it's gonna suck. Haha!!

No motorcycling this week for me. Lol.

To complete my commute for the day, at 55-60 mph, this is what you can get when the weather is above 70 degrees and rolling on 17s.(y)

Oh forgot to say ac was on at 69 degrees at 2 bars.

Keeping track of my mpg from a full tank. Here's the drive back to work from the 3 day weekend.

    20150217_090806.jpg 20150217_090819.jpg 20150217_090826.jpg 20150217_090843.jpg

Definitely my best average so far from a full tank of gas.(y)

we will have to wait a couple of more days to see what the final mpg is before the next fillup.

    More results to come.(y)
