Sure does. Wonder if there's anything we can do make it less susceptible to crosswinds.

 

60 miles ain't bad (estimate 2hrs). had that wind yesterday after work; would feel the shake above 65mph. you should be fine below that.

 

Ill be leaving for work in a few Hrs and I'll let you know how it goes...

 

A truck or suv passing by you at 45 mph at a stop light is enough to rock the car a bit.

 

Is it snowing in Cherry Hill yet?

There is already more snow on the ground over the bridge here on the PA side that a couple weeks back during the "SNOWPOCALYPSE", translates to about a half inch coating thus far

 

I think we will be fine. Just take it slow and steady.

I made it home without incident. I just took it real slow (45 mph on I95).

Had some co workers worried about the platt bridge but honestly it wasn't bad. Yeah the winds are stupid right now but as long as your driving slow enough to dodge the trash cans blowing down the streets you should be fine.

My Prius never felt out of control or like I couldn't stay in my lane. Oh and no issues with the couple inches of snow on the ground with the stock persona tires, granted the highway was salted but half the drive had a coating of the white stuff.

yes, here is the list of what worked for me:
- bump up pressure difference front/rear (40 vs 36 or 42 vs 36)
- add rear antisway bar
- add STB
- if still not enough, install camber kit and do alignment

 

Or just drive the car as is.....

 

I live in nd and the winter months here we have wind always at 30mph+. You will def feel it whopping the car but as far as throwing you over the road like a rag doll is highly unlikely. It is no different than most cars these days with high profiles ie suv, mini vans, trucks, or crossovers. Just go a little slower to make it less noticeable and you will be fine

 

Install the TRD rear sway bar and the car will handle much better in the wind. It is fine bone stock, but the TRD suspension parts really make it handle nice.

I went from a 2011 Kia Soul+ to my Prius…comparatively, the Prius handles a lot better than the Soul when it's out on the highway.

Yes, I feel the buffeting/turbulence from crosswind, tailwind, getting caught in the wakes from semi-trailers, but nothing as noticeably pronounced as in the Soul.

If I had to gauge the Prius' handing as far as it's chart position between a Kia Soul and a Camry (which is our other car), I would say the Prius leans much closer to handling like the Camry…not scientific fact, by any stretch of the imagination, just my subjective perspective.

So, car nuts, how much does a car's wheelbase have to do with how it handles? I am of the school of thought that the longer and wider a car's stance is, the better it handles…I may be wrong, but at least it sounds good and is a sound concept, at least.

We're taking our first road trip in the Prius next weekend, to St. Louis, so I'll have a better idea of how its handling compares to the Kia on long trips. I have no doubt it won't be *as* comfortable as the Camry, as long as it's a marked improvement over the Kia, as that was one of the three reasons we traded it for the Prius.

Not necessarily; there are some great handling small cars. Longer wheelbase creates stability and compliance on open highway. At expense of handling in tight quarters. And bigger/longer/heavier car needs more engineering go into suspension to make it handle.

Thanks for letting know of Soul.. Next time I'll get an urge to try hamster car - I'll pass. It is interesting that you find Gen3 handling improvement; for me it was not drivable in stock form.

 

Not only should you get 15 braces and stiffer springs to keep you on the road in a little wind, this new body kit is def. What's needed....
