Prius 2009 owners manual

    Just traded my beloved Citroen C5 2.2Hdi wagon for a Prius, model 1500L, 2009, however this is an imported
    second hand car from Japan, apart from the pictures all the text in the manual is all Japanese!
    Does anyone has a manual in English please? Like to change the head unit and add a socket for accessories,
    very happy with my purchase, car is very clean and tidy and only done 63000 KM.

    Found manuals in PDF format of all models on the internet, still wonder how to go about the problem of the Japanese on the touch screen,
    there is no option to change language as this Prius was intended for local market only, can probably live with the radio/cd Toyota unit, however no connection for my iPod

    The touchscreen on my 2009 is pretty straightforward (graphics heavy), so once you figure it out your passengers will be impressed :)

    got to be a way to change the display language but your gonna need a jap to help you...

    No option to change language as I explained before, this unit was made for the Japanese market only, Toyota dealer mentioned 2500 dollars, only option for me is to find second hand unit, anyone scrapping a 2009 Prius?, this is the one without the Aux, two switches only on either side of the screen

    The AUX button is normally on the radio unit and marked CD/AUX below the CD slot. With the AUX input in the center arm rest box next to the 12 volt power outlet. There are also usually more than two buttons either side of the screen. Navigation versions having a total of 7 buttons non navigation I think 5.
    I do not recall reading here on PC of a definitive answer to the question of where the language, and display memory is, but it is reasonable to suspect it is in the display it's self. A display from a 2006 on should fit as that is when the upgrade to the display was made.
    There is no option to change the display language.

    I changed my jap screen by importing an australian multifunction screen and underseat navigation gps box. It cost me quite a bit. Especially the oz nz navigation disk. Nevertheless I now have a screen in english, and auckland & NZ maps. To me, if I keep the car as long as I intend to it's worth it. The only jap part now is a bit of text when the reversing camera is engaged.

    My radio however does have a pretty hopeless band expander. I would really like to ditch it if I could find an aftermarket solution that functions with the bluetooth phone - which turns the radio off with incomming calls - very handy.

    Thanks, I think that's correct, been looking on ebay, many units available from 100 to 400 dollars, consider doing that and at this stage I will leave the factory radio, hopeless short FM band but I do not use the radio much, connected my Ipod with a Belkin FM transmitter, happy with that set up so far, few FM stations in the South Island anyway so little interference.
    Kept my Tom Tom GPS, hard to get lost here anyway, but handy finding an address in Christchurch, use it very little.
    Also talked to a specialised shop technician who does convert Japanese head units, radio's etc. and has just done a Prius, replaced with a second hand NZ unit, straight swap and plug in, cost was over 500 dollars, he also confirmed that the Jap units are just that, they can not be changed to English.

    Back from finally receiving a new unit, ordered from Australia, was only 100 dollars plus 50 post, however the wrong unit
    with the Sat. Nav. option, I ordered the 4 switch unit, picture and description were correct, received today, complained
    and already got my money bay, impressed with E bay, they also let me keep the unit part # 86110-47220, is on NZ trade me now.
    A couple of questions:
    There are many units for sale in the USA, when I commit to buy on E bay a message comes up that this part is restricted and can
    not be purchased, I tried many, no joy
    I am after a working Multifunction Display unit part # 86110-47081 for A 2009 Prius without the navigation option, two switches either side:
    Display / Info and Climate / Audio, any one out there who has one or maybe could help me purchase?
