I have a 2013 Prius C I bought used last week. The Amber airbag light is constantly on. "airbag 'on' " light when passenger is in front seat, "airbag 'off' " when the seat is in occupied. Either way, the light is on all the time while driving. Threads on this forum say this is "normal, but annoying" and suggests taking apart the dash/cluster, then putting electrical tape on the back of the airbag icons to black them out.

Fair enough. However, a Toyota specialist says that the constant airbag light shows a fault in the system, and needs to be looked at.

    So..... Who's right?

    What "Toyota specialist" exactly ?
The C is a bit different than any other Toyota, including the other Prii.

He is wrong. The owners manual is right. Have you read it yet ??

There was a typo in your post that confuses things a bit.
If someone IS in the seat, the "airbag on" light should be ON.
If someone is NOT in the seat, the "airbag off" light should be ON.
If a child or very small person is in the seat, it also should say "OFF".
That's just the way it's designed.
