yeah, on the site for the dealership (ie what I saw when looking) it says "*This 2011 Toyota Prius V* *Bluetooth*"

So if it ISN'T a V, and has no bluetooth, it's not gonna be a pretty thing for them, cause that's false advertising and my credit union isn't going to be pleased.
They won't remain a certified dealer through them for long...

If you're chummy with the CU's branch manager, have him or her call the bum down at the stealership that's passing them self off as a finance manager.
That might shake some money out of them.
I'm starting to smell some unrefrigerated fish.
What else did they lie about?
    Who provided the carfax info?
    Them????
I've seen wrecked vehicles that had a clean CF history (accident not reported----owner self-repaired)

Did they give you the service history? (answer should be yes)
Did they give you two key fobs??? (answer should REALLY be yes!)

The difference between a 2011 Prius two and a five (or, for that matter a "v") is pretty significant.
    Check KBB.

IIRC, the Five has 17" wheels.
    Pretty easy to check.

You're married to this car now.
Make it a happy one. If the dealer shanked you on the purchase????
    GET SOME PAYBACK!

    Good Luck!

Yes, 2 fobs - I made sure of that, because I knew I wouldn't be the only driver and no way in hells am I giving up the only key LOL Learned that out the hard way w/ my exhubby...bastage took the car once and flooded the engine and then threw the key at me and said I could have the car :p Now that it didn't work...

anyhow, yeah, they get ONE chance on Friday to explain themselves, make stuff right, whatever.
I nabbed a carfax on it, it IS clean but like you said, could've been self-repaired, who knows? did not notice anything wonky when driving it though.

It was a fleet car before someone owned it for a couple of months (no service done) and then sold to them. They just did the oil change on it shortly after getting it, so I know what THEY have done to it, but limited what the business who owned it first did.

I have USAA, and they take good care of their people. These guys're listed as a certified dealer through their carbuying program, so if they're being dishonest, USAA is not gonna be happy.

    Yes, there's cruise control....

And I am assuming it was a fleet car; it was a company car of some sort before the personwho sold it to the dealership got it....

If you don't yet have a hardcopy of this, print it out right now.

Right away, I see a problem: "2011 Toyota Prius V" never existed. The capital 'V' existed only in 2010, as the top end version. By 2011, it changed to either '5' or 'Five', (my mind has become muddled). The lowercase 'v' didn't come into being until 2012, as the 'wagon' version. Toyota's labeling scheme created considerable confusion, but the letter 'vee' of whatever case was absent in 2011.

My early base model 2010 II (relabeled as 2 or Two for later years) did not have Bluetooth. The radio/display/NAV unit selection was changed part way through the very long 2010 model run before the 2011s came out, so I won't speak to what the bottom 2011 had.

Oh yeah, screenshotted that sucker already to take in with me. I'll also call USAA tomorrow and warn them, ask if there's a certain procedure I ought do.

I'll also make note of what you said in regards to the non-existant V. See if I can find some articles to back me up...

Don't get me wrong, love the car, but I don't like being lied to...

So is there any way to find out what model it ACTUALLY is? linking the VIN someplace, anything?

I wanna see how much it is ACTUALLY worth vs them selling me a V that didn't exist...

With all the question over what kind of car you have, why don't you just take a few pictures and post them. First of the side view of the car so we can tell whether it's a v or a lift back. Then the VIN so we can tell you which model and package it is. Also, if you can get a picture of the dash from the backseat perspective, that would help us as well.

if you think the previous owner may have had a dog, not to complicate things further, but at some point, you may want to have the hybrid battery cooling fan cleaned.

Is that something I can do on my own or would I need to take it to a shop?
I have a mechanic I trust with my life but he's never touched a hybrid before LOL

you can do it if you want to. there are video's on you tube. it's just a matter of pulling up the hatch floor and finding the vent.

nothing mechanical involved, it runs from the grille in front of the seat bottom in the passenger area on the right, to the hybrid battery which is under/behind the rear seat. the fan is close to the battery, and generally, the only problems we have is when people carry pets that shed a lot.

it's worth a check, because it's the only cooling for the hybrid battery. if you don't feel up to it, your mechanic can do it. nothing hybrid involved. in fact, he/she can do almost anything. there's only a few things recommended to be left to the dealer or a hybrid specialist.

You should he able to post pics from your phone real easily if you have an iPhone or the like. This fourm is one of the easiest to post pics to...... Upload a file......

I am assuming it's a base level two prius if it was a fleet car. It would be a "balllin" company to outfit thier fleet with top of the line Prius v aka fives that cost 8-10k more than a base model.

If it was a furry, shedding dog, there's a possibility the hybrid battery ventilation fan has accumulated some dog hair, compromising it's performance, which in turn can lead to battery overheating.

If you're not a car person, it's a bit of a fight getting at the fan, or at least close enough to see it, assess if it's clogged. The fan intake is at the bottom of the rear seat back, at the right edge.

To get at the fan you have to pull up the hatch floor, and there are some crazy tenacious fasteners, maybe to discourage casual incursion, I don't know. If you break some it's no great loss: you can leave the troublemakers out and there's still plenty.

    Here's some pics:

    I'm a little unclear.

Is this a "Certified Toyota Used Car"? From a Toyota dealership?

As far as I know, I've never seen a Toyota/Honda Dealership. If you bought a Prius from a Honda Dealership it is NOT a Toyota Certified used vehicle. I've seen ownership groups that own BOTH Toyota Dealerships and Honda Dealerships, but the two are usually run entirely separate.

If it's a Toyota certified used Prius...then being so recently purchased THEY should be finding and fixing your problems. Your airbags are important, it shouldn't of been sold to you with a defective passenger airbag.

As simple as a disconnected or broken sensor...or something more serious, you obviously do need to get this pinned down and fixed.

And I also agree, my concern if the vehicle was owned by a dog owner, would be to check the battery ventilation intake fan. You don't want it clogged.

Did you see a Carfax? Was one ever offered?

Bottom line, and in simplest terms, whatever trim Prius you own, or from whomever you bought it from, you need to get that airbag problem resolved.

I find it hard to believe a real Toyota dealership, selling a "certified" used Prius would be unaware of the trim level and/or misrepresent it.

If it was sold off a Honda Lot? I still find it hard to believe but it's a little more possible.

The Owners Manual can be downloaded from Toyota Owners Official Web Site: Service Coupons, Owner's Manuals, Service Scheduling And More. The 2011 brochure is also available on line. The 2011 Five (Roman numerals used only for 2010) has:

LED headlamps with auto level and headlamp cleaners. You'll find a rectangular bump under each one. If the headlights are on and you hit the windshield washer then the headlights get sprayed as well. (only on a Five)

There are small round fog lamps in the bottom grill. (only on a Five). If you see a rectangular piece of grey plastic you don't have fogs.

JBL 6 disc CD changer (Three, Four, or Five)

heated leather trimmed seats (Four or Five) There are two buttons below the flying buttress. I'd sit in the seat & hit the button to ensure the @$$ warmer works. You should feel toasty in no time.

Bluetooth (Three, Four or Five) On the steering wheel you'll see two buttons with phone icons and a button with a face.

17" 5 spoke wheels with P215/45R17 tires (Five only)

Auto-dimming HomeLink rear view mirror (Four or Five)

3 door SKS (Four or Five) The front door handles on both sides will have two ridges on the surface and there is a button on the hatch.

Water repellent front side windows (Four or Five)

If you wanted a backup camera then you needed to buy the Navigation or Advanced Technology Package.

Let us know what you discover.

Ours has the LED's and headlight washers, but there's a separate switch for headlight washer. I don't think I'd like HW going on ever time I activate windshield washer. Is that just in the states, or cosmic debris? ;)
