Getting ready for a 7,000 mile road trip to the East Coast and I'd like to avoid the hassle of getting our 20k service done while on the road. Other than getting off-schedule, is there any reason not to have it done at just over 17.2k miles?

maybe tyre rotation if you then wait tip 25, but probably not a big issue. there's nothing else but oil and filter.

I don't see anything wrong, it'll just be an oil change, tire rotation, maybe change out your cabin air filter if they haven't at 15k mile service. That's pretty much it...

    No problem. Perfectly fine.
Just tell the service adviser that you need it done NOW. He/she doesn't need to know the reason.

FWIW, I already talked to my service advisor to ask where I could get it done on the road. She recommended Savannah Toyota, but added there would be no problem getting it done early if I wanted it done here before we leave. So far, Larry H Miller Toyota in Peoria has been nothing but helpful. I'm opting to get it done early to avoid any delays/wasted time on our trip. I didn't think there was anything out of the ordinary I needed to consider, just wanted to make sure. Thanks for the comments.

I'm wondering the same thing? Maybe he meant Southwesterners, but then I'd still wonder what he means. ?)

Apparently there is more than one.
Which is pretty clear in his profile.

The bottom line is that they will give you two free oil changes, the 10K and 20K ones. If you choose to do any early, you will just pay for them after the first two free ones. Unlike some others here, I changed my oil early, approx. 7,500 miles per change. Had another last week, still free rotation, but paid for the oil change. Mine has now turned 25K miles, so all expenses are on me. I also replaced WS ATF at 17K, going to try for 300K on this little buggy........

No issues...except you have to go an extra 3,000 miles to get your service schedule back in order. Not a crisis if you go an extra 1,500 for the next two intervals.

And "getting your schedule back in order" is important......why ??

I intend to always use an interval of about 7,500 instead of 5K and 10K.

Except for causing the service adviser headaches because it doesn't match their pre-set intervals in the computer, I see no downside of doing that at all. Well, except that over my car's expected "life" with me it might cost me an extra $100 or so.

For me, 5K is easy to remember. :p

I thought about adding AZ to the dealership name, but decided against it since it's in my profile. ;) Then I didn't make the connection between Peoria and Midwesterner, though I am originally from Wisconsin. :)

Given how much we travel, schedules don't really matter too much to me and any extra cost is relatively small in the big scheme of things. If I were still able to do my own oil changes, I'd do it early, so I see no reason not to have them do it early. I also don't think 2,000-3,000 miles on tire rotation is going to do that much to total wear on these Goodyear tires. The only downside I can see is that the maintenance display will be off if it's preset for 5000, 10000, 15000, etc.

    It is not preset.
The person doing the servicing should reset it each time.
If it goes off and you have been using reduced change intervals........either they forgot to reset it or you have been asleep at the switch. :)

Thanks, I wasn't sure. The way some posts are worded made me wonder. I reset mine near 5,000 and it came on near 10,000 and I reset it again at 15,000, so this will be the first time it'll be off the 5,000 mile interval. I keep a log too, but at least now I know I won't have to worry about it.
