If I drive for 10 hours and using nav and entune, roughly how much data will I use?
I need to ensure that I have a data plan that will cover my useage.
My entire trip will entail about 40 hours of driving.

The built in GPS navigation system does not use your data plan.

Are you planning on streaming music? That would be the biggest use of data with Entune.

Entune itself probably doesn't use much at all until you use an application. Since you haven't told us what Entune app you'll be using on your 40 hour trip there's not much to say. Music services like Pandora are said to use about 30 mg per hour, if that helps.

If you are really worried about data use, and music will be the primary source on your trip, as an alternative, if you have a collection of MP3s on an ipod or other device, copy them to a USB drive and avoid the data use entirely. Then you'll have voice command control over what you listen to as well.

    Thanks rjdriver.
For the last year, my wife and I have been on a 1 1/4 gig data plan, which has worked very well for us. I'm trying to figure out if we need to up the plan for when we are traveling. I hope to find some talk radio to listen to, as well as 60's and 70's music.

40 hours of Pandora or I Heart might eat up a good portion of that 1 1/4g GB..

    My little 32GB SanDisk Cruzer,
is loaded with 60s and 70s music I converted mostly from CDs, plus a smattering of later stuff. You really have to dig to find some the good newer music. Most of it isn't played on the radio. Folk music is alive and well today, but except for some of the country/folk variety, it's kind of gone underground.

What I couldn't fit on the USB drive, I keep on my phone, and access through Bluetooth. I didn't subscribe after the three free months of Sat. radio expired, but it's surprising what you can find on the remaining preview channel if you don't mind their frequent pitches to get you to sign up. Because it shows the song title and artist on the display, I have learned of some interesting new music there. Hope your trip works out well.
